I've installed GTA IV countless times across multiple machines, and have four different installs on this machine alone. I've never once had to disable any feature of Windows.

not my experience with it at all and got nothing but bad memories from the gta 4 installation to my windows 8 rig, i bet i used 4 hours before i where able to get it working. I had to install microsoft flight x to get my microsoft games live infected steam games to be able to even start the games correctly. And all of this because they are too lazy to make a windows 8 compatible version and give a link to their latest crapware version. They claim its there to help us but in reality is there so they have more strings to pull in when you do something you aren't supposed to do (not following their license of some shit) and are their attempt at a DRM system which doesn't require internet.

I truly don't get it why microsoft screw up so bad when it comes to anything else than their windows OS (Windows phone, xbox one, IE, Windows Defender and this Windows games live cancer).

And back on topic: finely, maybe i can just skip right to the pc version and drop buying the console version for once.

I've never had problems with GTAIV on my fairly old machine. But yes, it could probably be less laggy!
Why did you have to kill that windows process and which one was it exactly?

God dammit :L It was all a mistake by Nvidia, or so they claim.

Update: Nvidia Senior PR Manager Bryan Del Rizzo has released the following statement for clarification regarding the statement:
Please note, during our Thursday's earnings call, our investor relations team provided a list of important games that gamers are looking forward to on PC this fall, and included Grand Theft Auto V on that list. This statement was made with the intent of expressing enthusiasm for the games industry in general, and was not intended to represent specific knowledge possessed by NVIDIA. NVIDIA does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability. We deeply regret the error.

Or they've realised they said something that they shou;dn't have, the internet picked up on it, and are now saying "that's not what we meant" as damage control.

My theory: The info was true, it will come this fall. Nvidia just says it's not because there is no official announcement from Rockstar yet. They told something too early, get me :)?

It will happen I think

There's probably some truth in the original statement. I suspect there are on going discussions over the release of a PC port and it's timing. Fall/autumn has probably been a touted along with many other dates, hence the slip of the tongue.

Personally I think we will have to wait till early spring next year to get a PC port. We might even get a next gen version considering the shared architecture.

Perhaps. Remember that Max Payne 3 was produced by Rockstar Vancouver, and the work of GTAV is from their 'North' studio in Edinburgh. Just a question is us lazy Brits can make a decent port with additional features and as polished as it's console counterpart. xD

i definitely look forward to GTA 5 but going by Rockstar's past PC versions of GTA they are usually released months or even a year after the console versions

Like how GTA V was coming in May with all the "hidden" dates in the trailer, that just happened to be coincidence?

Anyway, I don't think it will come this fall. I give it about another year. I wouldn't mind that, because then that gives me time to build a damn good PC if I don't get one within the next few months. GTAV will be on PC, just don't know when.
