It usually seems to catch fire when sparks are on the Engine/Fuel Tank.

Same with me, I reversed a Covet into a wall at full speed. I tried it again but couldn't make it happen.

That's because their fuel tanks are mounted behind the rear axle.

No you should let them be fire prone. It's kind-of funny. :)

ive done some further testing and have realized steam comes into play when your car goes into water i smashed into a barstow and still operated it while it was on fire and drove it into the water what i thought was weird was that we could still drive it after it was on fire, if there are any dev's reading this comment then i have a suggestion that you could add burn marks to the car.

It would be cool if you plan to integrate this when you make overheating a thing. pop your radiator and overheat it too much ant it catches fire.

Also tires and suspensions can catch fire.

The weird thing is you can drive the car when the engine and gas tank is on fire at the same time. And nothing changes on fuel bar. Just normal car with some flame effects. Also fire cannot jump onto a different car. But very nice work, thanks devs :)

The reason why the GM should be so fire-prone in a rear end collision, because its real life counterparts (Ford CV, Mercury GM, Lincoln TC) all have fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle, like this for example:

The location of the tanks made them vulnerable to being crushed in the event of a rear-end collision. In a study into fires related to this, Ford released this quote in a ODI Resume:
"...the rear impacts that have resulted in fuel leakage have been so severe that it is likely that similar vehicles from any manufacturer would also experience fuel leakage in similar impacts.... The impacts that were resulting in fuel leakage were occurring at extremely high closing speeds, almost always above 60 miles per hour with some as high as 84 miles per hour, and frequently involved heavy and rigid vehicles, such as pick up trucks, or even larger and heavier commercial vehicles, such as dump trucks or tractor trailer vehicles."
And true to Ford's quote, this shocking revelation in a Chevrolet Caprice is what put the final nail in the coffin for the Crown Victoria and Caprice. In a 72.6 MPH crash test into the back of a 1996 Caprice, there was fuel loss at the filler pipe and at a rupture in the right rear lower surface of the tank.

You just need to hit the right parts hard enough. I spawned an H15 on its side and drove a Lada into its fuel tank full speed and it burst into flames.
