Hey guys. 10 minutes ago I was driving the Ibishu Pessima, and I crashed into a tree and the car caught on fire. Is this a new update of some sort? I tried to make it catch fire by crashing in several different objects and it never caught on fire again. Is there a way to make it catch fire? Thanks! P.S: I'm sorry I have no screenshots of the car catching fire because I thought I could re-produce it, Thanks friends!

Yup, I guess so. Didn't see it in the changelog though, oddly. Haven't been able to play with the update, though.

Yes, it is part of the new update to improve BeamNG's realism. To set the car on fire again, you have to crash hard enough to do so.

Rear end a Moonhawk with a d15 at at least 70mph (122kph) and the Moonhawk gas tank will explode.

There is some probabilities involved in the fire code, it won't start a fire 100% of the time.

I highly doubt every car accidents end up in fires. :)

Maybe not, but sometimes. It also shows how close the gas tank is to the rear bumper and how it explodes. Just like a Ford Pinto

except it doesn't explode, it simply ignites, gasoline at atmospheric pressure is not explosive.

either way, it's not simple probability. There are specific nodes within the vehicle that have to be bought into proximity with one another in order for fire to start. Not all accidents will push them together

This worked nicely for me, the moonhawk is nicely ablaze but it hasn't spread to the D15

also if you drive in the mudpit on gridmap to your left when you spawn with the new pessima the engine starts smoking or you can pop the tieres or when you throw it down leap of death it should start smoking thank you for reading this comment

You can also leave a vehicle(stock) with its headlights on for a few minutes and it will catch fire.

I find that if you bust up the car in a way that sparks hit the gas tank, that is what causes it. or if you hit the gas tank hard enough. I also found (I forget which car) that where the exhaust connects to the engine, if that is broken, it can catch fire also. but that's just me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Sunburst, 200bx and Covet will be less fire-prone in the next update.

I'm surprised there are people who made the fire work ???
By crashing i mean . The only thing that worked is the Sun Gravity trick .

... they are the least fire-prone for me (except for the Covet) :/
The GM and the Barstow though, these ones catch fire so easily on a rear impact !
