Hey. I'm really wanting to get into the modeling of cars and stuff, and I will definitely create motorcycles too, but I am an absolute beginner. I mucked around in some free programs, but they confused me. I bought Cinema4D, and I need your guys' help finding good tutorials, suggestions for my first project, and so on. Thanks for all the models so far, keep up the good work!

Youtube has a variety of tutorials at your disposal. You just have to search for the ones corresponding to your program. That's how I'm learning Blender.

The key is to start off small, especially with 3D modelling. Instead of going right for a car, try fist modelling something relatively easy like a steering wheel or a single wheel and go from there. Like DaxTheHusky said, YouTube will be your best friend, but remember that 3D modelling programs can be very complicated and there are a countless number of ways to model any given object. The key is to start learning the different tools that are in there and being able to think through the best way to approach any model.

    Hi,

I would happily show you the ropes but I only know how to use 3DS MAX. My best advice would be start by making some primary objects like a sphere and a square and rotate/scale/bend them a bit to just to get used to what the basic tools do. This won't take very long, basically just press things and see what they do. Second, try to make a car rim using primary objects, something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXHg_Cp_-DQ (This tut is pretty old as I learned to model a while ago ;)) don't worry if it doesn't look insane half way through, just stick at it and you will learn a lot.
After you feel comfortable with that (you might want to play about creating your own styles etc) move onto planar modelling. This is the sort of modelling where you create a 2d square and keep adding to it till it looks how you want, this tutorial is very informative and will teach you a lot of good techniques (sorry for 3ds max again) http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/model-a-high-poly-car-rim-in-3ds-max-1/
Once you have made something like that rim, move onto a very boxy car. anything you can't work out just look up or ask on a 3d modelling site and you will figure it out often before you even get an answer.
something like this would be ideal
    chevrolet-step-van-1990.gif
    (1989 chevy step van)

The main thing though is don't rush past your ability or you will get disheartened and quit modelling, making anything in 3d is an achievement, it's just this forum has some very talented modellers who make it all look very easy.

all the best and you can pm me if you have any questions :)

    Rob
