    My old HP Envy, equipped with:
    -i7 4702MQ;
    -Nvidia GT 750M;
    -12 GB RAM;
    Managed to run the game smoothly (1080p60) on medium settings. Occasionally a small hiccup in the framerates, but I was surprised it ran so well.
    It had a decent cooling system though.

    I won't bother even trying it on my new E6440 :p

    I tried a couple of those but it makes sense a laptop doenst have the "grunt" to run beam. But If you think that my specs can run beam then i can try looking into it more.
    agian i have a i7-6700HQ 2.60GHz processor with a gtx 960m and 16 gb of ram

    Thats a quad core processor with 8 threads on it....that should be enough for Beam but somehow the graphics is the issue...hmm....

    Out of curiosity i put everything at low and got 17-19 fps then put everything to high and it didn't change much at all. I then put everything to high and changed resolution to the lowest and got to 23 fps. Which isn't unplayable at all lol. But if you think I could be getting more fps then I'll test some other things. I also tried overclocking but I havent done it before and so I didn't clock my card too high cuz I didn't want to mess things up xD

    When I first started playing it was about 85 Celsius. Then I figured out how to change my fan speed now which lowers it to 65 maybe 70 sometimes. I heard you should be concerned at about 90 for laptops since they're designed to run hotter

    I would say AT A GUESS, you are thermal throttling your graphics card....

    Yeah I've changed a few setting to set the performance to 100% cuz initially thermal throttling would kick in. I'll look into more things I can change when I get the chance

    Even still that processor is running at 65 to 70 degrees C thats still a bit warm....it still maybe causing thermal throttling at the cpu and gpu depending on what the temperatures look like on the GPU side of things....

    I know its something to do with Thermal Throttling....but how I am unsure...

    He is correct in that laptops run extended temperature ranges, and while 65-70 is toasty for both, its not exactly problematic, throttle is at around 80 usually.

    Ah thanks I was unsure on the exact figure I thought it was about 75 Degrees C myself, what would you recommend to be done about this issue...I would look into the fan settings if there are any or make a super aggressive fan curve if that was possible from the BIOS I am not sure if the newer laptops run the UEFI BIOS, I am quite confused by this...its difficult for me to explain...

    Then as I've said before, if you dont know, dont comment.

    For a laptop fuck all to be done besides clearing the vents, if his fan speeds are maxed as he says, thats just it, he's at the whim of crap cooling in laptops. He can invest in a cooling mat and thats about it.

    I agree with a cooling mat its probably the best option for him at the minute

    I always have a few extra 120mm fans laying around I may mod them into something to see if I can build my own cooling mat should be a fun build :)

    I don't have this problem, I have everything on low except for textures and mesh, and I get a lot better FPS than if everything is on high.

    So if the game is so cpu heavy would it be better to get an i5 6300hq with gtx 960m or an i7 6700hq with intel hd 530

    Are you sure the game is using your dedicated graphics? (you should see a warning on the menu if it doesn't).
    Also, High-performance power plan + AC plugged in?
