Mind if I use some of the static objects in this map? I am working on a terrain called "Foothill Mines" and some of the static objects I see here seem like they would be really useful to the development of my map aswell. And as to the textures and decals?

The tunnel is awesome and beautiful. Can't say enough about the damn fine groundcover either. Trynelgren gets an official
    'kick ass' rating.:D

    Thanks

The tunnel uses the dry rock island rocks, some of the industrial stuff, a Hirochi speedway building, a tunnel that I tossed together, a bunch of defaults things, and Gromorg's construction light from Trimble warehouse.

The guardrail is just a meshroad turned on it side.

This map is really cool. But...

The file size is absolutely ridiculous, quite a lot because there are so many unused assets in the map.
I used the BeamNG map tools app which can be found here: http://www.beamng.com/threads/beamng-map-options-map-duplicator-and-renamer-v0-3-05-sep.3768/

It managed to get the file down to 625mb from 1gb (388mb saving). Which is slightly more palatable while possibly adding some errors errors, but i didn't notice any, so you may want to check out that program. So in short, if you went through and cleaned up the files manually you could probably half the file size.

But as i said the map is awesome. But at 1gb that is far to big a storage premium.

Yeah... I've been meaning to clean up the file. Since I haven't been 100% sure regarding what assets I wanted to keep or leave out, I just left them all in the file for now.

Also, the difference between uploading 500mb and 300mb hasn't really mattered to me because both take forever for my internet to upload; I would just run the upload overnight. therefore, I haven't had a particular reason to clean up the file.

On the next version, I'll try to chop down the file size. I could probably get the file size down to about 250ishmb zipped.

So ever since 4.3.1 i have had this odd bug, the roads and some of the area around the roads (grass) is black. the texture is still there but the ground itself is very dark. no idea if i am the only one, and if i am i don't know how to fix it. i have tried re-downloading but i have not cleared cashe, as i fail to see how that would help. any ideas?

This has something to do with the most recent update. Since I only got around to updating my game after seeing your post, I just became aware of this. This problem has something to do with one of the terrain textures not having a normal. I'll have an update up sometime tomorrow.

Well I'm glad I "helped" in some way, as I love this map to bits.

Thanks for bringing this up. I was thinking of piping a script iterating through a bunch of GREPs as a quick hack to achieve something similar. This saves me the trouble. I'll post thanks over in thingshappen's thread once I successfully test the thing. ;-)

Having exactly the same issue here! It's a shadow/shading issue that has to do with the latest update, like Ouerbacker said. It should be happening with other official BeamNG maps too, but not in the same way.

I have been looking at the map trying to do some debugging.
I have tried disabling the suns shadows and that did nothing to help, so it would seem shadows are not the issue. I also tried disabling the shadows for the roads texture and that also did not help. Even deleting the roads did not fix the issue.

But i have also tried out fiddling with textures. Any chunk of terrain that contains the concrete texture turns dark grey. After further investigation i noticed that the concrete texture is the only one without a normal map texture. I assigned a normal map texture to it and it fixed all the issues.

So there is your bug, lack of normal map on concrete texture :)

now time to delete the map and reinstall it after completely ballsing up the file lol

All of the official maps have a normal texture for each of the terrain textures. Therefore, they are not having this problem. This problem has been brought up in this thread, http://www.beamng.com/threads/0-4-3-1-current-bugs-and-help-thread.17523/
Fortunately, I have now fixed this issue with version v2.5.

The problem has been fixed! Check the first post for an update.

Whenever I try to download the map from mediafire it says "Trynelgen2.5.zip is malicious, and Chrome has blocked it." Am I the only one getting this issue? I have terrible download speed and mediafire downloads so much faster, so is it actually malicious? Or is that just an error?

No issues here using Avira. Probably Chrome is my guess?

I may have texture issues on my map in the same way.
So is this 'glitch' with BeamNG .4.3.1 is actually intentional?!
    Thats kinda messed up...
Correcting textures is harder than it seems.

Not trying to rant here... But I mean its affected this map and many others....
So my question I guess is should I wait for the next patch to see if it fixes it?

This terrain texture bug was reported and is fixed in our internal build.
