So, when playing the game, It runs fine for a while, then all of a sudden without warning it drops to 6-7fps, then after another while it goes right back up to normal. I thought it could be my PC switching to built in graphics, but it's not that as I removed the power supply and it only drops to 12fps.

you can see it clearly here when it happens:

and when it picks up again:

I can't figure it out it's been like this for the past few updates.

    Hello there.

What you are experiencing is called "overheating". Your CPU is getting hot to a point where it can't operate fast enough so it slows down, to cool down. Once it's cool enough, it's throttles back to it's fast frequency and overheats again. And so goes the cycle.

Maybe if you could let your laptop breath more air? More like, put something under it so the air vents can breath easily. Or maybe, if your laptop is pretty old, you'll have to clean up the radiators from dust at some point.

Hm this looks like some thermal throttling you are running into.
Can you monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures when this is happening?

That's interesting, I did think of that but it's showing no other signs of overheating, plus my temp monitors never actually get that high. Maybe my PC is being overprotective somewhere. I'll look for some ways to see if I can disable it, or change when it starts to mess things up.

Actually my temps right now are 51 degrees C for the CPU, and 58 degrees C for the GPU. None of which are particularly high.

Is that while idle though or while BeamNG is running for at least 10-15 minutes?
