Forum changes

I'm also a bit confused by it, might be because I'm used to the clean old one though.
-The BeamNG.drive badge is now just a text, this looks a bit bad, but might be just temporary as everything I say.
-It annoys me that every time I have the mouse on a post there's a "Reply/Qoute" window appearing.
-Was the "Friends" function removed on purpose?
-Positive: A "Search Member" function was added
-Gif avatars don't work anymore?
-When pressing on the profile name with the right mouse button, I think it would be better I'd view my profile instead of my settings.
-Having to find the "Edit" button... This tab for editing post is something different, might avoid confusions, might annoy, idk yet <-awful smiley
-The conversations tab, why does it show me my last conversation when I move the mouse over it although there's no new posts?
-When pressing on the profile, I'm first linked to the Visitor Messages/Profiles messages. Well, I'd like the activity stream from yourself and the friends as in the old forum more, but maybe I'm just always against all changes...
-In threads, if existing, an image from the thread and not the profile image from the starter should be a thing. The profile image with like a name doesn't tell anything, a picture of a mod does.
-How can I now link to posts, not pages of a thread?

-Invalid links: Although I'm new I saved various threads, mostly with tutorials and stuff. None of the links works now, all are changed :/
-Removed joining date. Well, you just can't view it anymore. Might be positive in some people eyes, I liked it. Nothing important though.
-Round avatars look stupid and cheap IMO
-No smileys in visitor, AKA profile, messages?
-Double posts work (as seen from Kitteh5 below)
-A function to strike through words would be nice

I edited the post so that the zip files are linked under the images again, which broke the whole post including my images.

Also, for the broken link embadding look at my signature, it's supposed to link to the add-on parts thread. It looks like a normal link, not just "DirtGamer301's Add-on parts"

Then, at the moment, as a conclusion, this new forum is horribly messy and looks worse than the old one, sorry. Except the added "Search member" function I can't find anything better here than before...
This are just my first impressions, I'm someone who usually hates changes though

I really like the new forums! It will take some getting used to but it seems great so far!

 

I'll just be honest, this is horrible IMO. If this is the future design, then downloading mods is the only reason I will ever visit this forum again.
I don't understand honestly why to spend time on something that works perfectly fine and nobody asked for a change, when you have tons of stuff wich is broken.
That's like having a car with a broken engine, and instead of fixing the engine you fix a perfectly working headlight. Sorry but thats just my opinion.

 

I compeletly agree with DevKryton. I want the old forum back... every single link is invalid... plz change it back. PLEASE

 

It seems that there are lots of opinions on this new forum. There should probably be a poll on how the new forum looks and feels to everyone, but as far as I know, the majority of the members here either don't like it or are just confused by the transition. For me, it's not too bad, but it IS different, and that's what most of us are complaining about, among all of the broken bits and the new theme.

 

I'm crying... Now my BeamNG.Drive experience feels so uncomfortable and empty... RIP Good times with the old forum.. it was fun Peace

 

Hmmm. I'm honest...
I really dislike this design. It feels uncomfortable, to bride colors, to big posts but to little preview pictures, no "go to last page" option and overall i just cant see anything positive with this change.

Had it really to happen? What was wrong with the old Forum?

 

I really don't understand why this change was necessary, it just seems like it wasn't needed and frankly quite confusing

I really hate this, please change it back. Also my homepage/startup page was the devblog... There was something "happy" about the other fourm's look, when I went on it, I put me in a good mood, now I'm just not D:

 

I've used other forums with XenForo, particularly the Saints Row modding forum. It can look good spruced up, but without theming it doesn't look so hot. In the current state I'm personally not fond of the transition, but I'm sure we'll be back to looking good soon. I personally find XenForo a bit easier to navigate than vBulletin.

EDIT: Perhaps you could ask the staff over there for some XenForo help if needed? They just spruced it up less than a year ago after a news article mistakenly called the board XenForo.

 

And it's only getting worse... this is so wrong. The old forum:

1. Wasn't broken
2.Was wery fun and cool looking and clean
3.Every link worked

Holy crap, forums just got 200% better now that more features are here.

 

Damn, it's changed a lot now. It's so different now, just please add more of the BeamNG touch to it, the blue and orange and minimalism.

 

Redirection from http://www.beamng.com/forum/ to http://www.beamng.com/forums/ would be nice. I won't comment on design as is not finished. UI.X theme could look nice with a few changes. I am suprised you weren't really prepared on this transition. Getting things like theme ready on local server before doing it on live would spare a few hate comments.

 

Hopefully this will get better in time because right now it is weird. It seems kind of form over function to me. I'm hoping this is still the default skin because it really needs to be changed- it is confusing, the layout is overcomplicated, the color scheme (white on white on white on green? WHAT?) hurts my eyeballs, and nothing was wrong with the old forums. If the devs give a logical reason that proves the change was necessary then I won't complain, but this whole thing seems totally unnecessary to me.

But hey, to each their own. If everybody else likes it then that's fine- just don't pull a "vocal minority" because then people will leave in droves.

 

I so agree with Wheelie. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Also, it looks like a Regions ad in this forum, green and white on green and white. Why was this even needed?

 

And the flashing online indicator, and no 6677 avatar bounce. Why?

 

i cant complain, the old design worked well for people that know how to use it. this one is easy for people that just get involved in forums. is not that bad, i can easily deal with it.

 

And what was that 5:4 to 16:9 display change just now? ew.
