    Hello everyone!

I want to upgrade my pc's motherboard and CPU. And i want to ask something for CPU. Now, currently i have a 4 year old AMD FX 4100 Quad Core Processor. It's 3.6 ghz but i can't play BeamNG in good FPS. I want to buy a Intel Core i3 4170. Can i get a good FPS? (My budget is low.) And, i made a test about my FPS drops. And this FPS drops from CPU. I'm currently using a Sapphire R7 260x as a GPU. Can i get good performance from this CPU?

I have a FX 4130 as well. I can play BeamNG with 60FPS. But I use a MSI 960 4G gaming. With 4Gb Gddr5. Upgrading to an i3 does not make much sense. I would wait and would buy myself at least an i5. Or upgrade your GPU. I dont know how much money you have but the 960 costs 240€. The MSI edition of it.

You might get somewhat better FPS, but you might also want to look at an AMD FX-8320. It's cheaper since you won't need to replace your board and it's more powerful than an i3 (although the i3 does have better single core performance).

I'm thinking to replace my motherboard because i got 2x4gb 8gb ram but only 4 of is visible(even in bios) should i replace them with a single 8gb? I don't know i5's are really expensive for my budget, if i find them cheaper i will get them. But im really short on money. And i live in turkey so everything is extra expensive with all the taxes. So, maybe i can get a better AMD? I can change my ram and AMD CPU. My GPU is new. I bought it 2 months ago. And also, i plan to buy a 2. hand logitech gt driving force. So, if you can check the turkey prices of the CPU's.

    I got 2 plans.
    1. Buy a new Intel CPU and a MSI Motherboard(I choosed my motherboard)
    2. Buy a new 8gb single ram and a new AMD CPU.

Which one i should do? My GPU is enough i made a test that i readed in this forum. When i paused physics it is really smooth and around 60fps i can feel that when i turn the camera. And when i activated physics it just starts to drop FPS around 15. I really need a CPU. My total money is not that much. I need a good CPU for a little money. Cheap as i can find. And intel is better for physics.(I hear that, not tested.) I got a 500w PSU.

What RAM did you buy? And what's your current motherboard model? Did you try to update its Bios?

I would pick a FX 8320, 8320E or 8310. Whats the PSU model? just saying 500W equals to nothing.

Just get a FX-6300, it should work on your current motherboard.

Don't get a FX-8XXX CPU, If you don't have a 990 chipset, it is well known that any other chipset than 990 will get the VRM completly fried.
It usually happens on 970 chipsets, but I belive it happens on older chipsets aswell, just to be sure, get a FX-6300

I would say, don't get a 125W CPU if you dont have a heatsinked motherboard, so he can get a 8320E/8310, undervolt or even buy heatsinks for his motherboard. It has to be a really shitty 3+1 motherboard where I wound recommend a 95W CPU + heatsinks for your VRMs.

I've been using a GA 970A-UD3P for over a year now with my FX 8320. I ran this thing at 4.6-8GHz all winter and I've had it up to 5.2GHz no problem. So I dunno.

As for the PSU, make sure you at least have a decent quality brand. After I upgraded to the 8320 from an A8 my PSU fried within two days of using it. (Was a Coolmax 500w. Loads of dust inside it contributed to its failure.)

That only affects the 9xxx and their 200+W TDP. 8320/50 runs fine on 970 or older boards, as long as they have half decent VRMs they will be fine.

Are you sure it's properly inserted into the slot? Usually if a RAM stick is dead your system won't start at all.

Intel would be much better if you can get an i5. If you can't, stick to AMD and get an FX-8320.

AMD is better for budget systems or when you are on a budget and don't want to go 2nd hand, if you go 2nd hand, just buy a i7-920 for like 50 bucks from E-bay, and some motherboard, I got by Gigabyte GA-X58-UD7 and I7-920 from Okazii (romanian site) for about 150 euros, and it runs beautifully.

Make sure you are using a 64-bit OS.

Make sure you're on a 64 bit OS otherwise only 4GB will be visible. Then take out your RAM sticks and clean the contacts. (One time only 4GB was usable of my RAM until I cleaned the contacts.)

Yes. Also check prices of used i7 860 and i5 2500.

And make sure that you can find a 1366 motherboard for the 965 at a good price.
