Well since the last time I posted here I've completely stripped the block and put new rings, mains and rod bearings in. I also cleaned up the whole thing just to have a pretty motor. Over all the rebuild went smoothly except for when I busted a rocker assembly bolt in the head, and then busted an easy out in that (yikes). That earned me a trip up the coast to pull a head from a wrecking yard. The pictures are of the motor as it sits now, minus a repainted power steering pump that I put on yesterday. Should be dropping that bad boy in this week:cool:

Yesterday found out that a brake that seems to have been dragging on the rear driver side of the Silverado for a while...started having a slight leak, one of those small oozing leaks, not a pouring out of a hole leak. Also found out that the fluid level was below minumum. So i added brake fluid today and might have to fix or replace a calliper. Then later might need to have some transmission work done, it might possibly be slipping a little, either that or the brake is really dragging.

Guess I should start getting active socially on this forum.

Cummins is coming together nicely, albeit slowly.

Remove truck from weeds behind shed - Check

    Start truck - Check

Get truck running good - Check

Get flatbed sorted out, and installed - Check

Get tail light wiring re-wired - Check

Make sides for flatbed - Check

    Replace back window - Check

Get cat piss smell out - Half check

Besides a few piddly things, all we need to be on the road would be an oil change, a new fuel filter, and some new rear tires.

Wow, after looking back though here and seeing these abysmal hp/tq numbers, I'm not sure I even want to mention this trucks dyno numbers, even though they were from 2008.

    But I will anyway.

This is with a 94 12 Valve that at the time had 109,000 miles. ( Dodge says from the factory it was 190HP/450TQ, these are lies)
First pull (Bone stock) was 215HP/495TQ, Then a few pulls later, and a new set of 90 horse injectors, a different grind on the fuel plate, and BHAF, and a few other things, it put down 305HP/800TQ.

With any luck all these years of sitting haven't knocked those numbers down too far.

I brought my first car, a 1977 Mini "van". Got it home and checked it over, and bolted the seat in.

This thread is for real cars mate, not toys.
Have all these things needed replacing for a while or does that Audi just break on a daily basis?

Well on Monday i came home to see a wire hanging out the front bumper, only to realise the gearbox oil was no longer in the gearbox! Upon further investigation, i was relieved to see it was not a serious issue; the reverse light switch has cracked, fallen off and oil sloshed out. £10 on eBay and 2 days delivery later, the new one was back in, and oil replaced.

Good to go, or so i thought.

A few miles from work the next morning, i feel a strange vibration from the front. Coming round the next roundabout its clear i have a puncture. No problem, just a 10 minute delay and mucky hands and i would be on my way.

Nope. As soon as the the spare was on, i was hearing some strange noises coming from it, i assumed it needed balancing. but i thought itd be best to pull over and check, just in case.

Alarmingly, my foot went for the brake, and kept going, all the way to the floor. Great, brakes failed :/ Luckily, i was on a straight, and managed to slow down with careful use of gears and handbrake. Fluid pouring out, front hose has a cut.

Eventually i got the car recovered, and should get it back this weekend.

It's never let me down; it's not as unreliable as I make it out to be. ;)

I bought the thing with a lot of niggly little issues, so I've been ironing them out one by one over the past few years. The only problem that remains is the buggered cruise control. Once I fix it, the Audi will finally be 100% problem-free.

I do spend more time than I'd like to admit doing preventative maintenance though.

I just finished repairing the unfortunate aftermath caused by a concrete parking stop. I reinstalled the washer fluid housing, fog light assembly, and a Styrofoam bit that came unglued from the bumper structure. The only evidence is a couple cracks underneath the bumper, which you can only see if you have the washer fluid housing removed.

I also installed a front license plate bracket.

If it bothers you, sand the area down, weld the plastic back together with a soldering iron, sand the high spots, bog it, prime it, paint it.

    Sorted for under $50.

I'd also get in touch with the centre management and ask why a genuinely dangerous amount of rebar is poking out of their parking stop. Appalling stuff.

It isn't noticeable from the outside, and it seems to hold up well. I'll definitely get in contact with the store owner, and at least ask the owner to remove the access rebar. I'll leave it at that if they take action, as I'm not one to pursue a lawsuit against a small business. It's just another excuse to get a new bumper, since it was already beat up by the previous owner.

I have come to the point when it doesn't feel like it's worth putting any more money into my Audi. It needs two new mufflers plus some piping because the mufflers have big cracks on both sides that cannot be welded. And just a couple of days ago it has started to lose brake fluid in some unknown location. And soon it will need new brake lines in the rear. It's a shame because now I got the engine to run really good compared to before. The engine is a lot more peppy now and does not hesitate on the throttle any more.
But I've come to the deicision that I will buy a new car, probably tomorrow or in 2 days. What car it is, you will see... :)

For a $22 eBay spec part, it fits nicely and clips on reasonably tightly. Long overdue, the bAe4 has been rolling with a gaping hole in the front bar for over five years.

You will not hate me :)

Okay, so dad and I found why all the brake fluid disappears. Brake master cylinder seals are broken, bought a restoration kit today. Should get it by Friday.

So you still get a new car or keep on with this?
I like the style of your Audi, i generally love 80s/90s cars.

I wish you best luck man, both, for fixing the Audi and get a proper new car, if you buy one :)

Today I put a new shift knob on my Hyundai Veloster.

Can't decide if I like it though...

Try to glue the gaiter to the knob. Looks kinda sloppy like it is now.
