That thing must have one hell of a cooler on it then. Or you have fans in the door of your case that moved just enough air over it to keep it from throttling.

I have a fair amount of case fans blowing on it, plus it's been a long while since I've actually played a game that turned on and pushed the second GPU so for most of the time it was off or at idle clocks.

When I actually played a game on it it went up to ~210f after a few minutes and throttling. So, yeah.

Speaking of GPU fans I realised mine only starts the second fan at about 60c. Not something I've ever noticed before but that explains the extra noise when rendering for long times I guess.

Asbestos...

It wouldnt really matter much, plastic would do a decent enough job. Metal would act as a heatsink which would be interesting as it might help cooling a bit.

If it came with the gpu then it is probably an adapter, to adapt from a different type of cable. Usually you get power cables included with the power supply if you built it yourself, if its a prebuilt then you will have to buy a cable if possible depending on what psu you have.

Can I strip this external HDD's case off and use it as a internal hard disk for my laptop?

It's not as bad as most other pre-builts, but the CPU is rather slow (turbo up to 3 GHz). I'm assuming the GPU is a GTX 960 since that is the only 2GB Maxwell GPU available right now.
You could build a much better PC with $800.

It doesn't say wich GPU it has, wich makes it hard to answer your question.
It only says "NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU with 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory"
Also, the CPU seems to have way worse performance per $ than mine.
I've found a PC on amazon with an i5 4460, wich is the CPU I have. The PC I found is also about 200$ cheaper.
It has a graphics card with 2GB of VRAM too, wich is from AMD instead of Nvidia.
Since I don't know what GPU is in it though, I can't tell you if it'll be better or not though.
Oh, and the link, if you want it:
http://www.amazon.de/Acer-Aspire-De...165953&creativeASIN=B00TZXFQAW#productDetails

I've also looked at a review from Amazon about the PC that you chose.

It basically said something along the lines of : It has a custom GPU chipset, wich makes updating nvidia drivers literally imposible, locking me out from quite a few new games."

--edit--
Sorry if I'm talking alot of BS by the way.

I looked it up, read it was a Maxwell GPU and assumed GTX 960. But a custom chpiset is a big nope.

The PC you linked has a Radeon R7 240. Terrible card, useless for gaming.

It really depends on the drive inside. Either crack it open and take a look or see if you can Google whether or not it's possible with that drive.

How did the fan break?

AFAIK you can't buy a replacement for the fan. You might be able to RMA the card however. Or, you could buy a water block (not sure if it would fit though, I think MSI doesn't use the reference PCB so you'd have to find one specific to the MSI card) and liquid cool it, although without an existing loop that is really expensive.

Re: replacement fan?

Is it not under warranty?

Speaking of GPU fans I should probably get around to replacing the fans on my 6790 which have fukd bearings. But I don't use the card and if I did I'd probably strap 80mms to it..
