Minus the fact our family toshiba predates that and was built like absolute crap. My old school exclusively used toshibas. Built like absolute crap.
They went to shit years before Core i. My mom had one running Vista with (I think) a dual core Turion. Piece of shitty shit.
Still better than my HP that came with Vista and 25GB of bloatware trying to run off a single core low voltage Turion with 1GB RAM. Thing idled at 100% RAM use and 100% CPU load. After cutting out all the crapware I could it still idled at 80% RAM and 70% CPU. And HP preloaded a performance widget, so you could see how crap the computer was in real time! Jeenius marketing right there.
I went on a 24 mile bike ride today with my brother and one of my friends. For some reason, a light mist is actually pretty nice for biking. It also went surprisingly well for being my friend's first time riding a road bike with drop bar handlebars. We got chinese food, went to a library, and I decided to organize a shelf of antique HO scale trains at an antique shop.
We have a Toshiba laptop, currently its absolutely fine. It has a latest gen I5 mobile chip with integrated graphics and does everything it needs to. It seems to handle The Sims 3 just fine which other than YouTube is the main thing my sister uses it for. The build quality feels pretty good too, there is very little flex in it and the plastics feel good. Since its a latest gen I5 its not going to have any issues with being slow. Sure it did come with quite a bit of bloat but it only took about 1 hour to remove it all and was pretty painless to do. The speakers are also surprisingly good. It was also a fairly cheap model ~£400. The only problems i have ever had with portable computers are: The old Intel Atoms were bad, incredibly slow. People who buy laptops that have absolutely no idea what the specs mean, then buy a Pentium and moan when it is slow. People who buy a laptop and then fill it with crap and moan that it is slow. To be honest most of the problems are people either getting ripped off or people who for some reason seem to think that buying a laptop that contains a many year old pentium chip is a good idea. I guess the real problem is people go to places like Asda (Walmart's UK brand) to buy a computer.
My sister recently got a nice expensive Toshiba. i5, good touchscreen, etc. It was expensive though. I used to have a Toshiba netbook, and even though it was plastic-y it actually wasn't half bad. Apart from the performance that is. (1.6GHz Atom.)
I have a Toshiba that's about 4 years old. Broken because of me, but ran fine until then. Great laptop, great build quality.
Thank you sir! - - - Updated - - - Humans are strange, especially the ones like me. We surround ourselves with other humans, drown in our society. And yet, we humans fail to make ourselves happy. Why do we find our teenage years so... Discharacterizing? We think that we know ourselves in the beginning. We think that we are who we are. And then, everything changes. Your closest friends turn on you. Everyone you know shuts you out, almost dehumanizing you. You sit there and think to yourself about why, when you should be thinking about when. You make promises that you can't keep in order to make someone happy, for a shot time anyways. Then it all comes crashing down even bigger and even faster and you can't do anything but sit there and apologize. But yet you know that it is meaningless. You keep telling yourself that sorry is enough after you ruin someone's life. Then reality hits you, it isn't. Well, I feel better. I needed to get that out of me. Sorry. Goodnight, forum. Sleep tight, don't let the RussianBugs bite.
Man, electronic throttle bodies are annoying. If this thing wasn't electronic I'd just spay a bunch of carb cleaner into it, poke my finger in it and turn the valve around so I can get the other side clean, and be done with it. Can't do that with drive by wire. Carb cleaner is too abrasive for it, and apparently if you move the valve manually with the electrics still connected, it'll flip its shit thinking it needs to de-ice and cut your fingers off. I've got all of the intake disassembled. I'm about ready to just spray some carb cleaner on it. :| edit: I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do it right, damnit. The throttle body's gotta come off. DONE. Only took me 5 minutes, including washing my hands and taking a picture. Now I just gotta find something to clean it with lol. Decided not to buy throttle body cleaner at the store earlier. I wonder if MAF cleaner will work...
I want a Core 2 Extreme X9100 for my laptop. It's the same performance as the T9900 in it, but it's overclockable. They're expensive though... But I want it..
The laptop is the victim here. Toshiba is the bad guy for making unbalanced laptops for profit (like most manufacturers) and making plastic fantastic products.
