is there any way to get the game to run faster on a Toshiba Satellite??? it isn't THAT choppy, but its too choppy for Bandicam vids......
so, replaced my windows 10 technical preview install with ubuntu (inb4 6677) and it runs fine, however it doesn't seem to be able to get the efi boot manager to boot to the grub bootloader instead of the windows bootloader, i can go into my live usb drive, use "sudo efibootmgr -n 0000" to get it to boot to it on next reboot, however when trying to set it as the permanent one via "sudo efibootmgr -b 0000 -a" and as far the the terminal is concerned it works: Code: evan@evan-Lenovo-H430:~$ sudo efibootmgr -b 0000 -a BootCurrent: 0000 Timeout: 1 seconds BootOrder: 0001,0000,0002 Boot0000* ubuntu Boot0001* Windows Boot Manager Boot0002* ubuntu but after clicking restart in ubuntu, it boots into the windows boot manager instead any idea's?
im starting to save for a better computer, hopefully a desktop. also, I need it to run beamNG drive and Minecraft really well. I cannot stand mine anymore. as a last thought, I need it to be around/below $1000. any suggestions?
You will never have a problem with Minecraft. Just about any modern computer will run it. If I recall, even Celery will run it.
GTX 970 has 1/8 of the shading units, cache and ROPs disabled. This also causes the last 0.5GB of VRAM to run much slower than the rest. In terms of real world performance, the 980 performs about 15% better and is about 60% more expensive. The 980 Ti, however, $650, costs as much as two 970s but also twice the performance... On a single card. And yes, you can swap parts on an OEM board.
so tried boot-repair, that didn't work i also have no idea what most of the things in this paste-bin mean: http://paste.ubuntu.com/11709461/ the end message said to try bcdedit if boot-repair couldn't get it, could that work? http://i.imgur.com/nLCrUiD.png
Literally have no idea. It's something that came with the PC, so I'm guessing it was designed to be able to run this setup and this setup only. What wattage power supply would be good for an i5 4460 and 980Ti? 750 W? Wait, I've just had an idea. We have a 300W power supply somewhere here. Could I use that for the 980TI? Yes, I know it sounds silly, but it would definately be cheaper than getting a completely new one. ------------------- I also have a question about DX 12. So, you're supposed to be able to mix AMD and Nvidia GPUs. What are the limitations? Could I combine my 750 non Ti with a Radeon 6950?
300W, for a rig running a 980TI. Please wait a few minutes while the paramedics revive me, I laughed myself to death. No. BRANDED 750W I'd go for.
WHOO the bcdedit thing worked i now have a working triple-boot of windows 8.1, windows 8.1 (to be windows 10 consumer once released), and ubuntu so, from the linux fan's on this forum, any suggestions for things to try out? i already got playonlinux installed as well as chrome (which seems to use less ram on linux then it does on windows)
Got an upgrade today, my rig is now in a Corsair 450D. I love this case, it's awesome. Now I'll need a modular PSU since the back is cluttered with cables and the yellow/orange cables look hideous. Might go for a powerful 80+ gold (Corsair RM series?). But first, I need moar wam. My CPU temps are also about 5*C lower under load, nice. Yes, that's a great PSU. Might get one myself.
Okay, so now I need to find some information about the motherboard. If I don't need to change it, I'll be at about 650 to 700€. If I do need to change it, then I'll be at 800-ish €. Just for a graphics card.
The next PC I will get will be selfbuilt. I just wanna keep this PC for now. Anyways, looked up dimensions. The 980ti is not as high, but about 2 times longer. Will take of the side panel and see if this is possible.
I just found out that my 12 volt rail is actually outputting 7.5-7.6 volts. I know this is low, I know it shouldn't be doing that. I don't know anything about rail regulation. Is there a possibility that these software readings are false? Should I check it with a voltmeter? Is this thing gonna explode...?
