Give this a read - http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-hands-on-the-realistic-driving-game-with-glorious-crashes/ They also posted a video
Very good video review. Hopefully we have others eventually picking up on the game again since its release on Steam.
The comments make me murderous as usual. aaaa... armchair physicists need to be set on fire. "That's not realistic. Cars in real life need to be at very high speed in a attrition-less surface to fishtail like that. Anyone who drives know that driving cars is not "hard" or "physically challenging", and it's at most complex when you first get behind a wheel." 1. You mean FRICTION, attrition is a form of erosion you twat 2. no, I've had incidents of fishtailing at low speeds. All you need to do is bap the accelerator 3. Driving at SPEED is difficult, you're trying to control two tons of steel that's glued to the road by four credit card sized patches of rubber. just... oh god. One in three posts are like this, from complete idiots. Yes, there are flaws still with the handling and physics... but not in the ways you suggest.
There. I burned him a little. His comment: http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-...ame-with-glorious-crashes/#comment-2064407021 My reply to him: http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-...ame-with-glorious-crashes/#comment-2064451530
The review is actually pretty decent. One thing I don't really agree with though is that since it's a sandbox game, he kind of implies that this makes it incomplete or boring. It's always been a sandbox game and I honestly never imagined it being anything else. I'm surely excited for any new content (Campaigns, progression, etc.) that comes to the game but at heart it's really just a physics sandbox and shouldn't be treated as if it's meant to be a AAA title with a story and whatnot. Aside from that though, I think his first impressions were pretty solid and represent the game quite well. On the other hand, don't even get me started about the comments on the written or video reviews. After reading a couple, I think it's safe to say that I'd lose too many brain cells finding things to criticize in those for it to be worth my while.
I get to the end of all that PC Gamer stuff and my conclusion is on par with the Underpants Gnomes. That was a review. profit.
i'm just waiting for the "NCG rip-off" comment so i can laugh at it, as there almost always is someone who doesn't even look to see which was created first
Not exactly calling it a rip-off but still, http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-...ame-with-glorious-crashes/#comment-2064358422
i saw that comment, they're actually talking after the lack of updates for 7 months i believe (or so i hear about it, i don't actually have the game so have no way to verify)
these shitty comments have been the most angering thing i have read all day. apperently all the 12 year olds in the comments have driven a squirly supercar from the 80s at 90+ mph and havent been killed by it and compared it to beamng finding it "unrealistic"
also, i replied to the person who seems to think that car's will NOT spin out if you turn full lock at speed http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-...ame-with-glorious-crashes/#comment-2064547002 i think my reply covers it all
sad but true. It's been that long since the last update, as they said they were changing to a new version of the game engine and have been promising a major update with all new physics and tire models for 6 months. Even the 'weekly updates' have also stopped on their official forum (last one was 2 months ago). http://jaylinski.github.io/wreckfest-counter/
Re: BeamNG & PC Gamer my reply to him: B-B-B-BITCH!!! http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-...ame-with-glorious-crashes/#comment-2064582574 - - - Updated - - - This is why I hate the internet sometimes. He makes my blood boil. I wish you could take people on the internet outside. To teach them a freakin' lesson. https://disqus.com/home/discussion/...mail&utm_content=read_more#comment-2064641262
BeamNG.Drive on PCgamer.com http://www.pcgamer.com/beamngdrive-hands-on-the-realistic-driving-game-with-glorious-crashes/ This game is getting some more attention now
Re: BeamNG.Drive on PCgamer.com I'd suggest avoiding the comments to anyone who wants to keep their sanity. Lots of idiocy down there.
Re: BeamNG.Drive on PCgamer.com I'm not going to read it. Fucking agenda driven propaganda rags suck. It has relevancy in the fact that no matter what they say it will give BeamNG exposure. Douchebags.
That update came out months ago, then we got an update like a week ago, then we got a few patches to that. http://www.beamng.com/blogs/ Look at that, their last update, 3 days ago. Before that, 6 days ago. THen 1 week ago. Then about a month yeah, but that is totally 2 months ago. I think the problem is obvious, you're missing the steam icon on your profile, you never did the steam migration everyone was pestered to do and was plastered on the dev blog. THe old game updater no longer works, only steam does. Although TDev occasionally uploads backups here: http://www.beamng.com/threads/2054-...t-Backup-only-download?highlight=alpha+backup So sad but true? No. Complete and utter bullshit.
Re: BeamNG & PC Gamer ummm, wrong game? he was reffering to wreckfest not having updates, not beamng - - - Updated - - - to be fair, read your own comments, would that not make you angry as well if someone said that to you? he's actually pretty reasonable once you know how to reply to him, look at his reply's to my comments
Re: BeamNG & PC Gamer you're making yourself look like a retard in those comments, beamng cars drive like ass and not like real life.
