Intel i5 2500k safe temp?

It gets better if you shove them on tiny motherboards

 

I wonder how an NH-D15 would look on an ITX board... Would be pretty hilarious. The cooler would probably be larger than the board.

Actually, that might not be possible at all, heatpipes might block the RAM slots. You'd have to use low profile RAM, or a thin ITX board with SODIMM RAM.

I wonder how a build like this would go:
ASRock X99-ITX
Intel Xeon E5 2699-V3
Noctua NH-D15
AMD Radeon R9 295x2 (Would it even fit?)
16GB of some low profile DDR4 RAM

 

It would if you hack sawed the case.

 

You can actually fit a 295X2 in some ITX cases, I think the cooler would be the bigger issue. Could hit the backplate.

 

Bitfenix Prodigy would take that cooler in a Mini ITX rig I think.

The motherboard however will not. Its uses the narrow 2011-3 cooler mounting style rather than the standard square style most aftermarket coolers are made for. A modified base could possibly be made for it though.


Both motherboard and prodigy will take the GPU.

 

Noctua will send you a mounting bracket for free. Or you could just go full Linus and zip-tie it in place (don't).

 

Then you could even uses gtx titans as a counterbalance for your motherboard...
He could probably make a computer case with built in fans and radiators out of gtx titan cooling units.

 

I can't see how you'd do that, they're blower coolers.
You could stick an open-air GPU cooler shroud/fans on a radiator though.

There would be a lot of very turbulent air flowing everywhere , but it would still be moving air. I was just using Titans as the example since Linus could probably use them as house bricks to build his new office.

Is it from Lenovo? I was deciding between my Acer and one of their computers that were almost the same.

 

It's from Microstar, which is owned by Medion, which is owned by Lenovo, so technically yes.

 

If its a desktop have you considered building it or looked to see if it would be cheaper to do so?

Im happy to see that I'm not the only one in this kind of situation (not that its bad or anything).

But I didn't pick Lenovo because they were a little pricey, and it didn't come with a keyboard and mouse, which I could not afford to buy at the time. The case did look cooler though. Also, I kind of wanted to build my pc, but I had no experience of what parts to get, and I was scared I was going to break something. (this is my first pc worthy of gaming).
