Some may know me as 11076, and BrightAndCreative. I used to be a car maker and map maker for ROBLOX. most of my work is still up so go ahead and check it out if you want to. ROBLOX gave me alot of patience when it came to making stuff, and now I am here on BeamNG learning how to make mods. Anyone here play/know of ROBLOX?
Eh, Its different from a players point of view. The community is worse than the beamNG forums. If you use Avast as your virus protection, it thinks ROBLOX is a virus. Half the games are copied. Those are true, but that doesnt mean the whole community is bad, Avast isn't that great anyway And there are original titles aswell as copied ones.
I still play occasionally. I started way back in '08. Back then, it was Miked's Ultimate Paintball, Robloxville, Sword Fight on the Heights, and a couple others dominating the front page. Those were the good times. I remember when Ultimate Paintball became the first place to get 1 million visits. Then it got bad. Now, with advances in the game engine, there are a few "games" that can rival proper games. Although, there also a few games where you can have some proper roleplaying. Those are some good ones. The rest of the "games" are simply minigames of one sort or another. Roblox has lost its favor with me. Then again, it's the players that have lost my favor, not the whole system. The community has become sour. Hackers run rampant. The forums have gone unused and the devs won't communicate with the player base, for various reasons. Back in '08 and '09, I was in communication with the devs on a number of topics, from how to do something in my "place" to the features they were adding to their test servers.
The community is abysmal. I played it back in '09, left in 2011 because of crap community and because the devs started copying Minecraft to get kids to play the game, making the community even worse. I tried it again recently to screw around with the lua api for the keks, which reminded me how utterly terrible it is. An infinite loop in a script actually crashes the game.
That is what happens when you get a bunch of little kids who have no experience with a computer and tell them to create their own world. Its sad that such a great platform has been ruined by the kids. BeamNG has a great community. Very helpful. And there are much less issues with trolling and hate. But I say you should see my work. Go to ROBLOX.com, Look up BrightAndCreative, and take a look at my maps. Its an example of what I want to bring to beamNG. Same with my cars, but I need a crash course with modeling first. - - - Updated - - - I kinda have left ROBLOX due to the community. It was also because I hit my head and it must've knocked some sense into me, because I have not made much lately. Here on beamNG, people are helpful. Back at ROBLOX, it was a constant fight with someone. And I wish I learned ROBLOX Lua, it would've been a basic introduction to BeamNG Lua. Oh well.
I forgot about the Minecraft thing. I left in 2010 when all the "tycoons" exploded. I returned in '12 to find Minecraft everywhere. Left very quickly. It wasn't until late last year that I returned, to find it full of well scripted minigames, which is fine by me, except I'm not into minigames. But, alongside the minigames were some great games. Anything from a couple well made shooters, to open world rollplaying (and crosses of the two). Those are the only games I play on Roblox now. And the biggest reason for that is because they aren't full of whiney 12 year olds.
I started 04-05 played it often, was great fun. then slowly they added more and more. gear and such. prices went up. I played other things of course, but almost every day I would play atleast an hour of roblox, had a few friends on it I played with (met online and irl) ~2009 I stopped mroe and more. now I don't at all, i tried but it wasnt fun. it was all too easy to do, charater animations are weird, new bodies are odd. feels p2w also to me.
I kinda wish people still played the simple, quickly put together, yet forever fun games like Miked's Ultimate Paintball or those old demolition derby games.
Well look at it this way; beamNG is like those old demolition games, And you have much more realistic crashes >
don't remember names exactly. but the mike's paintball underground digging and swordfighting that one pirate game (pirate cove or something) with the island in the middle the original CoR the original basewars sword fights on the heights rocket fights on the heights (something like that) demolition derby all i can remember now n00b
Yeah... Simple fun. And friendly people. A few weeks ago, I took the time and effort to take some amazing screenshots of Robloxity. With both monitors... The FoV on ROBLOX is really terrible... I'll post them when I get on the machine holding them. Another thing I've noticed with most of the community: complete lack of respect and appreciation for well made games.
There's absolutely no respect for content creators. All of my models were open source, description said 'you jerks are gonna steal it anyway'. Terrible is an understatement to describe the community in roblox. Which is why I'd much rather stay away from it.
I played it. I don't really like it though and the community on it is god awful. The number of spammers, exploiters and idiots is massive. Here is an example (Very old image, that is why there is RoR in it. I stopped playing that over 6 months ago.): ^Note the scams on the bottom and stupid comments on the top.
i just quit roblox a couple hours ago the game is rubbish,community is even worse,updates are 4x worse...
Their updates are terrible. It makes the game worse most of the time. Also, the game is full of glitches and they don't fix them. Instead, they decide to add a feature over bugfixes. The community was okay a long time ago.
Ah, The memories of playing... Before ROBLOX it was Virtual Sailor. Now after ROBLOX its BeamNG and Rigs of Rods. I wish ROBLOX was still good. I think ROBLOX let success get to its head. It was better when older games still worked. Now they broke due to...UPDATES!
