BeamLap — Hotlap Timer & Online Leaderboards for BeamNG BeamLap is a mod that adds structured hotlapping, lap timing, and online competition to BeamNG.drive. It started because I wanted a simple way to choose a course, run laps, chase PBs, and compare times with other drivers without having to build a separate time-trial setup for every track. Current features: - Automatic lap timing - Personal best tracking - Online leaderboards - Vehicle and driver comparisons - Telemetry-based lap analysis - Shared course data for mod tracks - GT-style in-game HUD - Offline hotlap mode One of the main goals is to make mod tracks easier to use for hotlapping. If a track does not already contain suitable time-trial information, BeamLap can share course definitions between users through the online service. Once a course has been created, other users can run the same layout without setting it up again. BeamLap is currently in Open Beta. I'm especially looking for feedback on: - Tracks where timing does not work correctly - Mod tracks with unusual layouts - Vehicle compatibility - UI/UX problems - Missing analysis features - General bugs Gameplay demo: Website: https://beamlap.com Download: https://beamlap.com/get-beamlap Online mode requires BeamLapRelay.exe because BeamNG's Lua environment cannot directly establish the secure connection required by the service. The relay is lightweight and open source. Offline mode does not require it. I'll use this thread for beta updates, known issues, and development progress. BeamLap The mod for racers.
Update: I removed the previous attachment to upload a newer build, but the forum is currently blocking the new ZIP upload. For now, please download the latest version from the link above.
this has so much potential i love it --- Post updated --- but i need to know how to make time trials for stuff like the ring andd i'm on linux so no online for me.,.,
Thanks! Which Nürburgring map and layout are you using? If it already includes BeamNG Time Trial course data, BeamLap should detect it automatically. Otherwise, the route needs to be created as a Time Trial course first. I’ll also add a Linux build of the relay. Unfortunately, I don’t currently have an environment where I can install BeamNG on Linux, so I’ll likely have to release it without testing it in the actual game. The relay is just a simple pass-through and does nothing else, so I don’t expect major issues—but I’d really appreciate your feedback after the Linux version is released.
I’ve now uploaded a Python version of the relay that runs on Linux. You can download it from the BeamLap download page: https://beamlap.com/get-beamlap I haven’t been able to test it with BeamNG on Linux myself, so I’d really appreciate it if you could try it and let me know how it goes.
BeamLap 0.1.266 is now available! This is a major UI update introducing Compact Style, a new single-panel interface focused on the essential information needed for hotlapping: Lap time and delta Split times compared with your PB Session lap count Personal best and session best Compact Style is now the default. The original racing-style HUD is still available under OPTION → HUD STYLE. This version also adds an option to begin from a course’s rolling-start point. BeamLap 0.1.268 is out! Ready for BeamNG 0.40. Checkpoints now play the stock BeamNG chime. Engine power now includes intake, exhaust, turbo, supercharger and nitrous, as calculated by the game. The website also has a BeamNG version filter, so 0.40+ lap records can be ranked separately from older versions. I’ve also submitted BeamLap to the official mod repository. It’s currently awaiting approval. Thanks for the feedback!
