Ok small bump time! Version 1.0 is here! See the original post for details I'm uploading this now for people that want to have early access to it before I submit it to the repo. There are still a few behind the scenes things that need to be done before that happens, but the core mod is finished. As mentioned in the patch notes this is currently only for the "RubadubRallyTrials" version of the mod as the "RubadubRallyTrials_2" version still needs quite a bit of work. You could say "Well, Rubadub, the second version of the mod is just like the first one except with the provided vehicles removed. What more work needs to be done?" Well I could simply do that, but that's not the standard that I set for myself. Because the provided vehicles are removed means that the times won't reflect what I expect them to be. So I am still needing to go through them all (most of them anyway) and rerun the times using control vehicles. That takes quite a bit of time for someone that doesn't have much. As always, feedback is welcome. Enjoy!
Ok, so I'm a wee bit late to the 0.39 party, but I've only just today been able to do a quick check up on the new update and how it affected things here. And oh boy, looks like I've got some work to do. The pacenotes don't work, ending of the stages doesn't work, I'm sure there are other things. I've not yet had the time to assess the actual workload that will be required. Hopefully it'll just be a quick fix to get things working as originally intended and not me having to overhaul all 50+ stages. Then I'll get to work on seeing about updating things with the new features. Again I've only had time for a very quick look at the update today, and I can't actually start working on fixes for a couple more days. Sorry about that. Edit: So I've figured out what needs to be done, and how to do it. Unfortunately it won't be quick. I am basically having to redo the pacenotes for every stage, and make adjustments to the race files as well. And many other small things that "shouldn't" take very long (new thumbnail images, adjust a few times as there have been changes to vehicles, update the environments on a number of stages, among other things), but you know how things can add up. However, I am now going deep into getting this done ASAP. Guess I pulled the trigger on the 1.0 version a week too soon lol.
Just a little progress update for those wondering. I've been working pretty tirelessly the last couple of weeks (or more) and I'm only about half way done. I'm kind of kicking myself by having so many stages to redo after every major update. 0.39 with the new pacenotes system is even worse, as I am having to remake and re-test all of the pacenotes just about from scratch. I'm averaging less than 2 stages per day at this point. I've also already gone through every single vehicle config and re-tested them, and gave them a refresh for the new update. Definitely feeling the burnout, but I'm pretty determined to get this update out asap. I've been considering just re-releasing what I have finished so far, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to cut content just for that. Hopefully just a couple of more weeks and it'll be ready.
Hi, the project is absolutely awesome, I have been playing on it since february (and didn't update since so I missed some content since) and it was a blast! Basicaly taking random cars and running them through the stages to see if the car (or myself) can do it. I'm pretty hyped to see all the content I missed since, don't burn yourself out to fix the damages of 0.39, quality takes time and trading your sanity to go faster is not going to help. You're doing a fantastic job with this mod and whatever time it takes to finish it, we will still have a lot of fun with the finished product. Thanks for the fabulous work you've done and I wish you all the best!
Thank you! That is in fact the entire reason why it is taking so long, is because I am focusing more on quality rather than just trying to rush it out. The problem with doing it this way though, is that with 47 or 48 events to redo it definitely takes a while lol. I'm also easily distracted and sometimes just start playing with the game . Happy to hear that you're enjoying it however!
Alright, here it is. Finally! This ended up being a massive undertaking that I wasn't quite expecting following the big 0.39 update. Took so much longer than I had ever intended or hoped. But I'm sure the results were worth the effort. Enjoy the full release! Edit: The secondary version of the mod is being worked on now. I know my predictions have been... well, not accurate at best, but this really won't take that long to do. As long as I find the time to work on it that is.
Alright! For those that have been waiting for the second version of the mod, it is finally here in full! All content from the original version is included but without the provided vehicles within the events. More is explained in the OP. Next step for me is to get the mod ready for a repo release, and then I will get working on extra content!
Very small update to a few of the vehicle configs to bring them back up to date with 0.40. I won't bother adding patch notes for them until I upload the updated rally stages as well. Haven't looked too much into the damage done to the stages yet, but I'm hopeful (judging by the patch notes) that it won't be too bad. Mostly Italy with the lighting update, and West Coast are my main concerns. And I'm not sure how much of an affect the weight of the new player models will have on the performance of the vehicles.
Thanks, wasn't too worried about Jungle Rock, but good to hear that it's ok for the most part. The deep dive into fixing stages begins now though. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long. I'm eager to get this on the repo and begin working on extra content. Just updating everything over and over again is getting old haha! --- Post updated --- Unfortunately, while most of the stages themselves are intact, the inclusion of the added weight from the occupants (which you can't remove in missions ) has had a dramatic affect on the performance of many of the lower powered vehicles. So for now I think I will just make sure that the stages are updated properly and then reduce the main version of the mod to just the gold time vehicles. At least temporarily until the devs add in the ability to remove the occupants entirely. I just can't sink another month or two into making everything work properly anymore. Doesn't feel great tbh. Feels like multiple years worth of work, 1000's of hours, just rendered useless with one simple update. The second download version should remain unaffected. But I may need to put this game down for a while after this, the last few game updates just aren't what I had hoped for the direction of Beam...
