BMW M5 G90/G99 — v1.1.4 Update An unfinished community project, made available for free. Hey everyone! I'm Pascal, and I've worked on getting this mod back up and running with BeamNG.drive v0.39. With permission from the original creators, I've made several fixes and improvements to the last publicly available version. Please keep in mind that this is NOT a finished release. This is an unfinished version of the mod, and there may never be a final release. Some features may be missing or broken, and there is no guarantee that future updates will be made. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: This is an unfinished development build. Please don't report missing features as if they were promised to be included in a finished release. Bugs and issues are to be expected. What's new? v1.1.4 Headlight improvements: They now can be turned off when its dark. Cockpit fix: Fixed fuel warnings displaying "--" instead of the range. + no more spam warnings Fixed textures: Fixed no material texture on the exhaust and suspension parts, they are now black AEB update: Rear AEB has been added for the realism.. Cameras: Fixed interior cameras being too close to the steering wheel (thx _crxw_) Known issues The driving assistance view on the sports display does not update correctly. G99 Not fully working, as things are missing (we are working on it) More bugs may be present, as this is not a finished version of the mod. Media Player — Setup Guide What is the Media Player? The Media Player is a companion application that reads the Windows Media Session to retrieve information about your currently playing music. It sends the song title, album information, and album cover to the mod, allowing them to be displayed on the car's infotainment system. How to install it Place the Media Player in your BeamNG.drive mods folder. Extract or unpack the zip. Run the included .bat file. Start BeamNG.drive and check the infotainment system. Note: The Media Player is a separate application and may need to be running for the music information and album artwork to work correctly. About the project The mod was last worked on by Marcel (@Zuweisung) and Law (@Iamthelaw105) in September 2025, with additional compatibility fixes made by me. The original creators recently decided to make the last worked-on version of the mod freely available to everyone. Even in its unfinished state, we believe this project is valuable for educational purposes. It contains a number of systems and features that pushed the boundaries of what many people thought was possible in BeamNG.drive when development began in July 2024. Over the years, many people have followed the project, supported us, and continued asking about the car. We're grateful for all that support. Unfortunately, real-life commitments and changing circumstances gradually left us with less and less time to work on the project. Development eventually came to a stop toward the end of 2025. At this point, there are no plans to resume development in the foreseeable future. Whether that will ever change remains uncertain. Please remember that this is an unfinished project. Some features may not work as intended, and certain issues may never be fixed. Credits & Acknowledgements A project of this scale would not have been possible without the people and resources behind it. Pascal (me) — Latest compatibility fixes to get the car working again in BeamNG.drive v0.39. @Zuweisung (Marcel) — The Lua systems, including the incredibly detailed recreation of the BMW iDrive 8.5 operating system. The interface was crafted by hand using SVJ, with no AI involvement. The amount of creativity and technical skill behind these systems deserves special recognition. @Iamthelaw105 — Contributions to the vehicle mod and the other systems required to bring the car to life. BeamNG GmbH / BeamNG.drive — JBeam and other game assets. NaturalMotion — Source 3D model. @Zepplinnn — Headlight Lua system. A big thank-you to everyone who contributed to the project and to everyone in the BeamNG community who supported it along the way. Final note This release is being shared so that the community can experience, explore, and learn from the work that went into the project. Enjoy the mod, respect the work behind it, and remember that this is an unfinished release. the mod is pretty impressive and overall well done but why is the first person camera almost like you're glued to the steering wheel
For anyone having problems with no texture exhausts and engine, it's because this mod uses some textures from Iamthelaw105's M3 G80/G81 mod If you you want to see which textures the ones loaded from the M3 are you can see those in unused.materials.json
I'm just gonna leave my improved unused.materials.json here. Apparently one of the underbody textures could be left empty to get the exhaust silver which is much better than the yellow we had before
1.1.4 Update out.. Headlight improvements: They now can be turned off when its dark. Cockpit fix: Fixed fuel warnings displaying "--" instead of the range. + no more spam warnings Fixed textures: Fixed no material texture on the exhaust and suspension parts, they are now black AEB update: Rear AEB has been added for the realism.. Cameras: Fixed interior cameras being too close to the steering wheel (thx _crxw_)
much appreciated improvements, still forgot something though, also the text for opening the doors n stuff seems to not work properly is it just me or is the engine sound very quiet as well
I already have the patch for the names, which may come in the next update along with the home screen on the center display actually displaying real data, matrix headlights (WIP), and a G99 that works. Though keep in mind, this is not a finished mod. I have no idea how to model, so some things may never be fixed.
no worries, no one owes you anything i do appreciate every BMW mod on here though so i can get nitpicky
I need some feedback regarding the new 0.40 update. My build runs fine, but i know i did some optimizations on it.
The car only is enough. If you want the media to be displayed on it, install the media player with it
