Windowed mode -> change car -> alt + tab or minimise the game window while the car is loading will cause the game to hang and inevitably crash with the following error:
I've found a weird instability bug that seems to be related to the new way instabilities are handled and I think this might just rarely happen with any instability. It also seems like the SBR4 might be more likely to have issues? Here is a video of the first time I encountered this (the game recovered after a little bit): I then did a test in safe mode on both Linux and Windows and I was able to reproduce the issue in both, but in these tests the game did not recover (the result I got in Windows is pretty crazy):
does this happen without mods? It could be the unrealistic amount of boost messing up the game engine.
Yeah, I have no mods installed and the last two videos were taken in safe mode after verifying game files. I was just using the boost to quickly cause an instability, but I was able to replicate the issue by just driving although it took a while before it would happen. I think it has to do with how the game no longer pauses when an instability is detected, but I could be wrong.
we need a compatibility bridge between legacy triggers and the new system - most of my mods and even vanilla vehicles aren't 0.39-ready like on this Sunburst and Bastion
why the ever living fuck was the simple function of configuring your axis deadzones, inverted, linearity etc removed from controls? im only able to replace it or change a filter? what about the rest of the configurations?! the only axis that has this available now is the steering axis did yall forget that theres other controls that exists which isnt steering that people would need to configure? i cant configure jack shit with any of the bucket controls with 0.39. wtf devs
happens to me in both linux and windows, with and without steam input using a ps5 controller. def a bug.
Manners, please... Why would you assume we intentionally break the game? Just a bug, we'll look into it when we have time
After a quick check, I see this was fixed internally 8 weeks ago, so should reach the upcoming v0.40 update.
THANKS!! with all the ui changes its hard to know what is intended or a bug. having a hard time getting used to the new ui tbh. keep up the good work! there isnt any other devs like yall out there.
ESC "sticking" issue (Scintilla, Bastion, and others) On track, easy to reproduce in corners. Braking and turning at the same time — front wheels lock up. Turn left, the right wheel locks. Feels like ESC braking it, but abnormally. Sometimes wheel locks completely, can't turn at all. Worst case: car stops completely at full throttle. Won't move until I return the steering wheel to neutral. Most obvious in Comfort mode. Harder modes — less noticeable. Happens on basically any car, not just Scintilla and Bastion — just drive those most, so most obvious on them. I suspect it's ESC "sticking", not ABS or traction control. Any ideas?
I second your suspected cause, it's an ancient issue that I thought had been fixed. Used to be basically guaranteed on the K-series in comfort mode years ago.
Replay recording drops framerate ~3–4× (regression from 0.38) My System: CPU: Intel Core i9-13900KF GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 (24 GB) Display: Philips 27M1N5500ZA — 2560 × 1440 @ 170 Hz, DisplayPort Renderer: D3D12 Summary Starting a replay recording collapses the framerate to roughly a quarter of normal. Replay playback is unaffected — it's the recording that tanks. This worked normally in 0.38 and older on the same hardware, Im recording in 4× slow motion. It broke with 0.39. Results — safe mode, no mods, standard in-game race track Cars Normal FPS Recording FPS 10 ~100 ~30–35 17 ~80–90 ~18–22 The same pattern reproduces on a self-made map with 2–3 mods enabled (17 cars, D3D11): ~40 FPS normal → ~10 FPS recording. Observations Consistent ~3–4× drop across all tests, and the impact scales with car count (10 cars ≈ 3×, 17 cars ≈ 4×). Reproduces in safe mode, so mods are not involved. Not level-specific — happens on a standard in-game track and on a user-made map. The Script AI Manager is not a usable workaround: it requires authoring a path for each individual car, whereas the Replay system records the level's existing AI traffic with no setup. That is the feature I need working. Reproduction Launch in safe mode (no mods), standard in-game race track. Spawn 17 AI cars and confirm ~80–90 FPS. Start replay recording (Using 4× slow motion). Framerate drops immediately to ~18–22 FPS.
Known issue, thanks for reporting! I fixed this internally a month or 2 ago, coincidentally yesterday I was typing this into the changelog drafts for v0.40:
Thank you so much, I have not been able to record videos for over a month. appreciate the reply. The game look so good in all other areas.
Controller will get stuck vibrating if car is switched while vibrating on PC with Xbox controller How to reproduce: get into a situation where the controller is vibrating. Switch vehicle through Vehicle Selector. Controller is now stuck vibrating.
