No problems with my 4690K here. I OC'd to 4.4 and it was stable, although I brought it down to stock to keep temps low, I don't need the extra power for now.
Something kinda like this happened to me... Except it wasn't cologne, but perfume. Kind of a long story. Might post it later.
So in digital design class we have to come up with a cereal box character. The teacher told us to practice drawing cartoon characters to get an idea for a mascot. I drew Squidward following a picture of him all exasperated and inadvertently made him look very high. So naturally the next thing I did.....
Story time! Hmm... I'm actually spending the time to type this up... So be it. Perfume I'm in the marching band, playing flute and piccolo. This happened my first season in the marching band. I was the one of two dudes in the woodwind section, only one playing flute (same circumstances this season, and off-season (my own harem! --not)). This caused ... interesting things to happen. Especially with how lively the section leader was. Most notably was the time she sprayed me with perfume. So, we were getting ready for a football game. I was trying to get the section leader's attention, I don't remember why. She whipped around and sprayed me with her perfume. Apparently I scared her(?!). Later, she apologized. Well, in her own way. She said that I would smell like I had a girlfriend. I told her that I didn't want to smell like I had one, that I didn't have one. She then, over the course of the rest of the season, tried to get me one. Near the end of the season, the drama class/club had their play. I mentioned that I was going. She asked me if I was going with anyone. I wasn't. She decided she would get me a date to the performance. She didn't follow through. Looking back, it's slightly embarrassing, and yet hilarious.
Except the bright pixels on the left this looks pretty good. It's 4k (well, 16:9 4k, so more like 3k) It took 4 1/2 hours. This is just sunlight too. To raytrace artificial lightsources would take well over 5 times as long. What shall I do next? Hm.
Played with my uni's über expensive 3d printer today for an assignment. Turns out the printers have no qualms with printing .stls of polygonal models, since these glasses were modelled in Blender (with a shit tonne of subsurf). Excuse the pokey iPod photo, but that's what it looks like fresh out of the printer before sanding. Support material has been removed, obvs. Impressive. (imported from here) Subsurf gives some interesting topology... (imported from here)
Watched a sun eclipse today, was interesting. Next one should happen here in 11 years, so that will be some wait.
I watched it as well, they made the whole school go outside. Being the uk it was cloudy and nothing happened. I got the best view since i streamed the event over iplayer while stood outside.
You couldn't see anything if you looked straight into the sun, you had to both have sunglasses with a strong filter or hack it somehow else. I didn't have sunglasses, but i saw it through a reflextion of the sun in my phone. It did hurt, but much less, and you could actually see that there is a little C, after few minutes there is just : as the sun got most covered in moon, and then it is fading away. People said that it was 73% coverage from here.
Yesterday I spent five hours downloading 13GB worth of updates for Gran Turismo 6. Installation failed. I just about jumped off of a bridge. Today I'm trying downloading and installing each patch individually- I think that 13GB was too much for the installer to handle. Fingers crossed. I'm sick and completely couch-bound so I have a lot of time.
Messed with the response timing on rainmeter. Now you can see the chords happen on the visualizer, but the recycling bin doesn't update every 10 seconds. (imported from here)
I too want one. Only thing stopping me is the price/performance for a used one compared to a Dell. My Precision M4400 was about $350-400 tops all in and it's got dual SSDs, a 3GHz T9900, 4GB RAM, and a FX 1700m 512MB GPU. I dare you to find me a MBP with similar or better specs for that much.
Terrible idea. You can probably get a 2007-8 Lenovo Thinkpad for much less, with very similar specs. It might not look great, but the things can take a lot. Buy an 8 year old macbook, most likely gonna be full of hardware issues. Buy an 8 year old Thinkpad, install clean Win7, it'll work as if brand new. Trust me, those things are built to last. Also, a macbook means using the awfulness of OSX.
