    Progress update v0.1 — 2 October 2026
I’ve posted a new development update with screenshots, recent improvements, and planned work. See Post #7 below for details. The mod is still a work in progress and is not available for download yet.

    30 September 2026 v0.0
    Ekrangrnts2026-09-30223904.png

    Hi everybody!

I am currently working on an articulated dump truck, the reference model I chose is the CAT 745 articulated haul truck.

Right now the truck can spawn and it is drivable. It has a 6x6 drivetrain model.

It has a walking beam suspension setup and the turning style is articulated, similar to the WL-40 in game.
Right now it weights around 35 tons (which is heavier than the real life version that one is 33 tons) and my goal is to make it able to haul around 40 tons, similar to real life specs.

    The dump body is operational.

However it is far from complete. The interior, visual models for the engine and drivetrain haven't been made yet.
Most importantly there’s still a lot to refine before it feels like a complete vehicle. I only want to release it once I’m happy with the result.

This will be my first public mod, and I’m a complete beginner, so suggestions and advice from anyone are more than welcome!

A note on AI use: I’ve relied heavily on LLMs to help build and edit this mod. I wouldn’t have been able to get this far without that assistance. I understand that some people have concerns about AI-assisted content, and I want to be transparent about how this project is being made. I’m responsible for the final result, and I won’t release it unless I’m satisfied with its quality.

A brand for it could be Wolf Heavy Industries, or Hirochi, ideally.

Good options, the model name I gave it is ADT-40 to avoid copyright actions from cat branding.

Wolf Heavy Industries is the brand of @TrackpadUser ’s forklift model, would be nice to see another vehicle under the brand, though if you make it a Hitochi you could reuse the cab (at least the interior) from the HT-55

Yes I had the exact same idea :) so I am using the interior parts from the HT-55, like the steering wheel, buttons on the dash, speedometer and etc. It wont be exactly like the real 745 interior but it is pretty simillar. For the branding name I have no idea what to do.
Models name as ADT-40 feels pretty good, it indicates the 40 ton max load capacity and it is simple. Brand name is something I haven't decided on.

This is just an example of how it would be to just put ht-55 interior to my truck. However there is alot of modifications to be made because the real layout is much different. It is more center oriented and I will try to make it like that. So the second photo is going to be my reference for the interior.

This is a photo of the v0.1. See below for details

    Ekrangrnts2026-10-02164957.png

    Development Update — v0.1 — 2 October 2026:
    Hi everybody,

This is the update for ADT-40, the articulated 6x6 truck

    Things made in this update:
    1. The entire frame has been remodeled to make it more detailed.
    2. The walking beam suspension has been modeled and improved.
    3. Complete new tires are made to match real life specs
    4. The truck now has a working articulated hitch for its steering and that is powered by hydrolics.
    5. Engine, drivetrain and driveshaft are halfway modeled aswell.
    6. Work on the cab interior has started, but it is still fairly basic.
    7. An oscillating hitch has also been added, allowing the front and rear sections to rotate independently. Its range is currently limited to around 20 degrees.

There’s still plenty to do, but the truck is gradually taking shape. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome!

    Things left to do:

    1. Build a new transmission with 9 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. I tried modifying the HT-55’s transmission, but couldn’t get it working as intended. The truck currently uses the WL-40’s 4-speed transmission, giving it a top speed of around 35 km/h. The target is approximately 55 km/h.
    2. Complete the missing JBeam structures. Many of the newly modeled parts do not have their own JBeam yet.
    3. Finish modeling and detailing the cab interior.
    4. Rework the oscillating hitch. It doesn’t behave as intended yet—the rear section should be able to tip fully onto its side while the cab remains upright, as on the real truck.
    5. Add more detail to the engine and drivetrain models, which are currently very basic.
    6. Clipping issues where some models pass through each other.

I’m calling this v0.1 because there’s still a lot of work and refinement ahead. This is a progress update only; the mod is not available for download yet.

I think you made the smart choice to name the thread without a brand name or model name. You might find as you work on the model that you get inspired.

Wolf Heavy Industries is a good suggestion for a "Caterpillar-like ADT" (apparently Cat makes forklifts IRL).
Hirochi would be a perfect fit if you tweak the exterior to look like Komatsu ADTs. You can also see what the brand of the new Euro semi is in a few weeks, since the devs might do something very cool and give it a Swedish brand.

Edit: nevermind about the official Swedish brand, but it's something you could come up with if you want to go down that path.

Good ideas! I have made some additionnal progress with the truck and it is all based of the 745 after 2017 model. With some tweaks it is very much possible to make the Komatsu ADT aswell but let me get this one straight first. However I wont be putting any real branding on as it may lead to copyright issues.

Also I've posted an update on this thread, However the message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors

They just showed a teaser, and it looks like it's going to be yet another Cherrier.

Making this project turned out to be more fun than I tought and it brought me more ideas for heavy machinery stuff. So after this project I want to switch to something bigger. It is too early for anything and probably it is a overambitious but which one would you think is more preferable: a 995 cat wheel loader or the cat 797F mining haul truck.

If you want to go with something bigger, the Cat 793 XE electric haul truck would be interesting as something clearly different from the HT-55, since it's all electric. The big problem with trucks or loaders bigger than the HT-55 is that there aren't many maps in BeamNG to drive them on. They just don't fit on most roads.

Right, that is a disadvantage to a bigger haul truck. I will consider that for sure, something like 200 ton range might just fit.

What's new? I also have a few questions.
    • Will there be load presets like boulders or rocks in the parts selector? like the HT-55?
    • Will it have front and rear US/EU license plates?
    • What engine(s) will it have?
    • Will it have a tow hitch? like a Pintle or shackle hook?
Also, another good brand could be Jargl or Segra, both Swedish, and could represent Volvo.

I figured the suspension is the most important factor of this truck.
I've been working on suspensions to make sure they will act like in the real life (I wanted to make it detailed in the modeling) , also articulation joint and the oscillating hitch and drivetrain modeling in detail. I can say that the modeling is 95% done for now and I am switching to make the j-beam structure of it.

    Ekrangrnts2026-10-04122049.png Ekrangrnts2026-10-04123149.png
The osilating hitch is seperating the truck in 2 making so when the load tips over, the cabin stays upright.

The suspension modeling is pretty much identical to the real truck with 3 rigid axles, all connected to seperate a-frames for the best off roading mobility and stability, seperate panhard rod for each axle for lateral stabilizing.
    Front axle has hydrolic suspension
    Rear axles have walking-beams

I am done for good with the modeling and I will be making the j-beam for the underside of the truck, This might take long.

    For your questions,
    1) Yes, there will be config options for uplift (marble and rocks)
    2) License plates might be something I will look into after the release
    3) It will have Caterpillar C18. I've also made the custom transmission for it which is based on CX38 spesifications, it is 9-speed forward and 2-speed backward.
    4) I might add a tow hitch

For some future update (doesn't need to be right now) would you consider different upfits? They do exist IRL, although not common since about 95% of these are dump trucks

    Water tanker

One that can take trailers (the trailer is apparently a "K-Tec pull scraper")

Not sure what this one is

There's apparently a cab chassis (bodyless) version as well

These are not upfits, but I found this one with a bull bar on it

And one painted blue (not sure that's factory paint or if someone had it repainted blue after the fact, but as long as it's colorable that ones easy.)

This also reminds me, will it be be skinnable? The blue one reminds me of the Montevalle quarry in Italy (hopefully got the name right) and @Top Tier Studios made skins for the HT-55 in his skin pack, so I can easily imaging this alongside it

Yes, the water tanker uplift option is something I really do consider since the beginning of this mod. Also the bodyless version will be available aswell.
However, I dobn't thin a fifth wheel can work properly with any trailer since the truck is taller and the wheels are too big for it so it would collide with them. One way to make it work is to put a gooseneck hitch to it so it can be used with a custom made dolly.
    And yes there will be
And yes there is going to be coloring options.

Right now I am trying to figure out the j-beam structure of it, it is taking some time and alot of testing for me since I am not really familliar with this type of structures.

Hi eveybody, just an update for the truck here.

I've been working quite alot on it however making the correct j-beam seemed to be really difficult, right now it has the basic mechanics like suspension, dump hydros, steering system and oscillating hitch. However I am still learning and the quality is nowhere near what I wanted to have. I am spesifically talking about crash physics and working stability of it. Although it works fine just to drive it around, the it seems to be unstable (spikes and resets) when crashed. So this is just a follow up to let you know it might take longer than I anticipated. And like I said it wont be realesed unless I am comfortable with its quality.w
Thank you for the support you have shown
