this side project was made as a thanks to my tier 2 patreon supporters, but you can also purchase it, and updates will be posted to that purchasable post.

There's 6 lore variants, 2 are early variants of a 3.0L V8 engines (torque curve was made to kinda compete the DFV). Then the lore is that turbos, ground effect, and radials made it harder to compete, so there was a late NA version, but it just kept getting harder, and the engine is very peaky, requiring a much higher idle. Then there's the final version with this chassis, made as a stop gap, a de-stroked 1.5L version with a single turbo, before their 4 cylinder version was finished. (a 4 cylinder model is partially finished, but that's a different wip mod)

The process to make this mod, was to take the Bolide as a base for suspension geometry (my weakest skill), and then to refactor everything, including mounting points, and arm lengths. I also did a bunch of other fancy little tricks, like learning the new components system, custom brake prop controller, so I can at least visually represent inboard brake disks.

I even made the tyres dimensionally accurate to the era, then in the form of cross-ply tyres, I made a specific tune for my new version of high polly tyres, and man! it's so good. The traction roll off, and extra slip angle feels so nice on controller! (the new high polly tyres mod will come out publicly in a few months, but for now it's also patreon only, as it's being worked on)

The chassis is based on things like the March 731, and others that I've researched over the years, and feel that it's fairly era accurate, including a nice rigid fuel tank that encompasses the driver, like a warm hug from a close family member.

I made it to regulation, and compared the engine specks to comparable f*rrari and ford DFV engines of the era.

hey thanks for bringing this mod to my attention. That's a really great looking car, and I'll admit, way better looking than mine. I'd started working on mine before this one had released, so there wasn't much to compare against that wasn't just a ripped meshslap. NGL, this has given me motivation again to do more work on it :)

Knowing how long it takes to make mods, I'm intimidated by how long they must have been modelling this for, especially since I've not seen an F1 car in this era that looks quite like it,though there are some really wild ones from the time. I feel almost ashamed at how much I took inspiration from the March 731 that James Hunt drove.

Though my wins against this team's car, are few and far between, I do have the separate low and high speed aero packages. That being said, I'm already re-working those models too.

I think it's a little narrow on the front vs the march, but late 70s F1 cars all look kind of shoogly to me...

Personally I think having two (three if you count the irl f1 car) separate f1 chassis is great for actual diversity in competitive racing. Can't wait to save up to try this

well I've been working on it more. I've been redoing the chassis rivits (turned out to be a nightmare)

    upload_2026-10-2_12-41-34.png

and instead of the nose being a part of the body, I've made the nose actually be the nose

    upload_2026-10-2_12-43-5.png

I also realised I didn't do as much work to the rear suspension as I intended to do
