is there gonna be fixes to the sheer inconsistency and vram issues with performance across hardware? on my end ive noticed its effected by "lighting quality" setting with the new lighting on low+, the games not using all vram... only actually using about 2.1gb~ worth of vram despite my pc having more available, and gpu utilisation is capped at 100%... with the new lighting quality setting set to lowest (effectively off), it actually starts to use the vram (usually averages 3-4gb~) and i get a 3-4x performance boost. seen issues like this across all hardware and renderers... some people with 1650s getting improvements, and some people with 5070s getting 20fps... dx11, 12, vulkan, etc... have you figured out whats causing this? some kind of memory leak, parasitic drain? are you going to get more consistency here so we actually know what hardware requirements are and what will and wont work?
The noise looks the same for me on a Radeon RX 6700 XT. Only there with movement. Without movement the noise is gone.
Great to hear that the auto disable mods bug have been hotfixed now. Sadly i already ran this update so i can't see if it works now for me. Speaking of this, for own mod making, i switch between different userfolders, one for the full fun with mods and one for clean user folder with only the mod i am building so avoid compatibility issues with other mods. However the migration that also get's auto triggered, get's triggered once. When i switch to other user, i just needed to manually copy over the files, since there is no tool in the launcher to trigger the migration again. But idk if the recent migration changes with 0.89 and 0.39 actually do this automaticly. So far i haven't run into issues by just do nothing when switching between different user folders that were outdated. Speaking of the positive things. The new UI feels so snappy now. Like minimizing and maximizing the game, scrolling trough the menus and i really enjoy the full controller support now and the additional extended german translation of UI elements. And obviously the new lighting that i was waiting for years. And the clouds are amazing. Performence impact seems to be drastic in that regard but my PC is almost 10 years old now, so i am happy that i can still run it any way unlike how it used to be with PC gaming years ago. I just need to figure out which graphical settings is worth putting down without loosing too much. Also the new 3D grass and the optimized light system is something i hoped to come too and i am amazed that it's already there for the lights, since that is even a problem for modern game engines. Now i wish Italy would get those lights too. And the new aerodynamics, skysystem and gameplay features like Taxi driving, damn. I can't wait for the new lightning get's more refined since this new shading highlights the flaws of the previous lightining more due to the massive changes. The sunlight for ex. feels like that even when the sun is visually not behind a cloud, that the light got dimmed a bit by a thin layer of clouds, so the weather is feeling a bit overcast all the time. I think it's some sunlight reflecting onto the ground back to cars and other objects is what is missing there. Like brighter highlights and deeper shadows. While also still many objects still glow in shadow areas, which currently can be compensated a bit by darkening the additional albedo color on the material itself. So thanks devs! This will be one of my favorite updates.
when can we add the repository mods to the update 0.39? it says its disabled do to the version update
The worst update ever. The graphics are worse than version 0.38 with mods. I have 2,600 cars I’ve collected over the years, and 550 maps. Everything worked perfectly—I spent four years on this. And now they’re releasing an update so kids can use such a serious simulator on their toy PS5 consoles. A tragic move by the developers of this game. It’s a shame. It’s a shame for me, because this is the last day I’ll be checking out new map or car updates. I’m sticking with version 0.38, because it would be a waste to spend another few years building up a mod database like the one I have now. Thank you for a great simulator, thank you for all the mods I’ve acquired thanks to the community that created them. It’s time to wrap up my further exploration. Maybe there's a setting I missed, but the autoexposure is broken in the showroom, preventing me from taking any new config thumbnails. Also, if I open the vehicle editor (the Shift+F11 one), exit it, and change levels, any subsequent attempts to reopen it are met with this error (so I have to restart the game if I want to open it again):
Played with the car a bit yesterday and tbh i like it a bit more. the front and interior just not my thing, but i really like the rear. sadly the best sounding engine for me is the i3 and its by far the worst engine xD have to see what i can make out of this car. devs also releasing patch after patch and i hope the game will run a bit better in the next time. a bit early release imo and i guess my rant post here was propably also not fitting for a not fully filed out version.
I was wondering if the game was ignoring inputs because something felt off, as when I press clutch and handbrake (LB + RB for me), steering gets disabled. Very noticeable when rallying.
Apparently a couple more vehicles are still acting up other than the I-series. The K-series and the old Pessima (only when certain parts are equipped though, same goes for the I-series)
This is a massive jump in graphic fidelity, you all have done some fantastic work with all the new shadows and lighting improvement. Im so happy the bug with the shadows disappearing at some camera angles is finally taken care of But about AO settings, is there any way to widening the radius of the AO under the cars, in the 0.38 version I could set the radius to 5-7 meters and it made the complete area under the cars/trucks darker (a bit noisy, but it was okay) It made it look so realistic. I tried tha same console command in this version, but the AO disappeared completely. Is there any way to widen the radius for the AO in this version to made it cover a bigger area under the cars? Looked at the setting file for the AO but didn't understand what setting to change together to get the same results.
BeamNG devs have said that performance optimizations won't really affect higher end computers that are way above the requirements, so my guess is that the switch to DX12 is putting more strain on your GPU than DX11. I won't worry about it at all though, because the update just came out and the 5090 is literally one of the most powerful consumer GPUs you can buy now, if not the most powerful. Probably nothing is "binding" your GPU, it's just the way they have it set up right now
What problems are you actually having because the graphics are supposed to be far improved, not worse. It's still surprising to me how people think that they would need to dumb down the graphics for PS5, if anything they needed to make the graphics better to keep up with standards. If you are having problems with no mods working, I believe they were able to track down the problem (a small coding error) and fix it in the latest hotfix so make sure you update the game and see if that fixes the issue. Also are you having any performance issues or graphical issues because you can post them here or look at known issues for information about it.
It's hard to be supportive when new updates break everything. The lag spikes I get whenever I shift gears have been game-ruining and the dev team don't seem to care. So I'm forced to just not play the game at all until they patch this.
