I don't care about it being better for controllers, this is a PC game, keyboard+mouse menu navigation should be the main priority. Everything is cluttered in the top left hand corner and there are so many pointless submenus and wasted space. With old UI you could press escape once and find everything instantly.
From 0.39: everytime you try to spawn a new vehicle, the skip regeneration of license plate was always defaulted to on, EV compensation was defaulted to -3 (causing vehicle models to get too bright) and dynamic reflections were defaulted to off even if you had these options configured on the complete opposite side in the main menu. You can always switch these options, but there's no way one would let's say spawn 20+ vehicles and had to change these options on every single one of them... it's just a waste of time.
I like the graphical upgrades in this update and don't mind the UI changes as much as some people. My problem lies in a bug/glitch I'm having which is fundamentally ruining the game for me. Said glitch being, whenever I shift my vehicle from neutral to 1st or from 1st to neutral, the game gives my system a really bad lag spike/micro-stutter. It's a long enough lag to where I could be missing critical braking/throttle inputs whilst driving, causing me to crash in situations where I might not crash otherwise. I have tested this with both modded vehicles and vanilla ones, on all kinds of maps; it happens no matter what, whether I use my steering wheel, controller or my keyboard. I've tried clearing cache, validating files, unplugging/re-plugging in all peripherals, messing with in-game settings, literally everything you can think of, and nothing has fixed this glitch. I love BeamNG but I can't drive the vehicles in this game if it's gonna lag me every time I shift gears. I have to be able to shift.
Freeroam taxi is nice, but it needs a backseat passenger camera, feels wrong to be in the driver's seat.
the community agrees that best ways to play BeamNG are either with a wheel, or a controller if the former is too expensive. so in a way, making the UI more controller friendly is a benefit.
Played a bit more and I think I have similar performance to what I used to have on 0.38 (60 fps with rare drops to 50) on medium graphics settings and 1440p, but now those medium graphics look better than they used to. Though my specs are just a bit lower than recommended so that's pretty much what I expected.
I don’t know if it’s just me or are the engine sounds too loud, even though I have an engine sounds mod installed.
0.39.1 is not on Epic Games store 0.39.2 is not on Epic Games store 0.39 got updated right after announcement, so this is something specific to the patches for 0.39 Now with PS distribution, all patches need coordinated push to all digital platforms
Maybe it's related to this bug I noticed with custom sirens (see Quote below). However, a team member already responded that they'll be looking into it. -------------------------------------- One of the main control options, even on PC, is the controller... Driving a car is way easier on controller than on KB+M, so it only makes sense to make it easier for controller users. It avoids having to switch between controller and KB+M all the time. And yes, the layout and navigation is a unnecessarily complicated in a few spots. But the new UI also brings a lot of useful features which are incredibly good and helpful. I'm sure there will be some changes in future updates, and that you'll get used to the UI. If I think back to the past UI changes there were always people complaining about it, and yet they still live and play the game. Btw, please just stop acting like a KB+M supremacist and accept that there are multiple ways to play a game, especially on PC. Actively excluding the playability for those options is just ignorant.
We need an option to back to the 0.38.6 because it's the lastest version that can works on potato PC.
Please clear your cache and make sure you have no mods or previous saved changes to the map that would overwrite the map files
texture streaming. its mostly a thing on DX12 and Vulkan. if your gpu has low vram, or BeamNG is installed on a slow hard drive, it could lead to the high quality textures taking forever to load (if at all).
Would it be possible to add a low option for ambient occlusion? Currently medium takes around 10% FPS on my system, yet it's very needed now especially in overcast conditions to have the image have depth. Even a very low sample amount is probably better than nothing
