It's not your GPU, it's a bug. I think devs know but they don't have time to fix it.

Next update may contain sky improvements so if we're lucky it may be fixed.

the fix for the blinding horizon in vr is ck's skybox mod which REALLY needs more skyboxes now specially ones specific for night.. finally im no longer being flash banged at low light times and can run trails at dusk but theres no night skybox for his mod that i know of that can be added to it which it so desperately needs..

Nice find, unfortunately CK's Skybox Mod doesn't support day/night cycle and it's no longer supported.

Thanks for reporting, this is a known issue. No ETA for a fix unfortunately, sorry about that.
A potential fix for this will ship in v0.39 (to be released this year 2026). It's unclear whether the fix will fix the right-eye Quest issue for sure, as it's an issue that's been quite hard to reproduce. So I'm not sure if the bug I fixed will truly fix these Quest issues, or I was lucky during all my hours of testing.

I have a bit of an issue. Quest Link updated the other day, and now BeamNG is competely unplayable through OpenXR using Quest Link (no SteamVR). I was getting in excess of 40 fps a few days ago, and now after the link update the game has become an unplayable jittery mess in VR on my Quest 3. It doesn't even matter what I select as my graphics options, or my resolution scale. Constant jitters. Asynchronous Warp is turned off. running a 5080 with 32gb RAM and an i7-11700k OC'd to 4.6GHz. Usually I can run in VR no problem, you can check this video for the jitters, and other videos on my twitch that show normal 45ish fps gameplay.

    ANY Help is appreciated :(

Hey, you could try a meta link reinstall but I doubt it'll change anything.
Not helping but I would suggest switching to virtual desktop, in ~2,8K I get 120 fps with the occasional drop to 60 on taxing environnements.
If anyones interested I'll post the setup (it is with asynchronous spacewarp yes).

I've been noticing these two issues as well on 0.38.6.0, making some in-cabin shadows and driving at night with a clear sky somewhat motion sickness inducing.

I keep getting this error no matter what, I've tried using steamvr, regular vulkan beamng, idk what it is. I should have a default openxr runtime already set cuz assetto and ets2 already work. I'm using an oculus quest 2 btw.

Do you have the meta horizon link installed and up to date?

0.39 distant bloom is getting too much parallax correction or... something. Circled building and sky behind it in the right eye is brighter than left eye. Depending on the scene, this can often effectively blind one eye when viewing in the HMD.

Near-cabin-object shadows are also mismatched. This is circled in the bottom of the pic.

Screenshot was captured with Monado's debug mode showing both eye renders.

Lights don't seem to update properly in 0.39 in VR (CachyOS (arch), Monado via Envision, AMD GPU)

    - after loading in a fresh free roam in WCU, the inside of the vehicle is blindilgly white
    daylight_freshly_loaded_freeroam.png

    - after switching to night, no lights work

    switching_to_night.png

    - reloading VR after turning lights on seems to fix it (except all street lights), but then the light doesn't move with the car

    Hi Stenyak,

I've been testing the game on version 0.39.1 using a Meta Quest 3 (via Cable Link) on NVIDIA driver 610.88.

The good news is that the stuttering issue seems to have disappeared! However, a couple of visual bugs are still present:

    • Separate Shadows Per Eye: The issue where shadows render differently for each eye still persists.

    • LOD Variation: There is still a noticeable Level of Detail (LOD) discrepancy between the left and right eyes.
An observation regarding the shadows: I noticed that in standard 2D mode, the shadow position sits exactly in the middle of the two VR perspectives. Since the sun now utilizes a constellation position, shouldn't the VR shadows in both eyes align with that central 2D shadow instead of splitting?
Also, when changing between the render eye option, i noted that on the option when the middle is rendered the tone of the shadows gets darker ln both eyes

For context, I made sure to test this with all mods completely deactivated (the only one I had installed was the Mirage 2000).

Let me know if I can help you with any further testing

Thanks everyone for the feedback, please keep it coming :)

VR needs some love to recover from the instabilities created by the massive rendering changes, so having these issue reports is really useful. The issues are being prioritized according to estimated impact, so understandably VR is not at the top of our tasks. I understand it's not a great situation, but we'll see what we can do with our limited dev time :)

As far as impact goes, the shadows are bothersome but not a show-stopper. The blinding bloom however, is unpredictable and essentially makes VR unusable when it appears.
I'm drooling to properly soak in this new gfx engine in 3D!

First of all, a massive thanks to @stenyak and the dev team for your hard work and continuous efforts on this massive update! We really appreciate it.

I am experiencing this exact same issue. For reference, I'm running on Windows 11 Pro 25H2 with an RTX 3080 and driver version 610.62.

Regarding this bug, you can actually fix it for now by simply turning off the "Dedicated vehicle shadow" option in the graphics settings. Hope that helps!

Love to see new update and love to see some VR issues being fixed like not mentioned in changelog skybox thing when you tilt your head sideways.
Like people mentioned earlier i get lightning issue where headlights dont work and after restarting VR mode they stay in one place not following the car.

I found different issue with tire smoke in mirrors

It might be hard to see but the smoke is getting "masked" by something. You can see it having a shape like some grass leaves and window corner. Also you can see it moving opposite to where you turn your head.

Edit: Actually that is not VR exclusive issue.

Looks like it affects lightning too. During nighttime they look pitch black unless you look with high angle.
@Hauntedblocks posted a fix for VR lightning not updating.
    "
I was also having this problem, strangely enough changing the vr window view to "between eyes" fixed the problem.

Settings > Display > VR > Window View (Set to between eyes)"

Auto Exposure needs to work different on VR. Currently having a big nav screen like Bastion will cause your right eye to be blinded by it.

For me ,as a sim VR only player, this update is very good visually ,no more trees popping and weird shadows, but now my fps dropped by half , in 0.38 i had stable 72 fps or 90 fps on certains maps , with high settings ,godlike mode in virtual desktop on pico 4, now i struggle to reach 40/50 fps medium/low settings, even in lower i can't reach 72 fps , i think the problem is with vulkan beacuse even on flat screen i lost 30% of my fps ,in dx12 i have the same fps as 0.38.
    By the way i have i9 14900k rtx4080 and 64gb of ram ,
I hope VR will receive a little more love in the future. this game is fantastic in VR , and i know with the new visuals i have to bring my settings down ,but like this is not playable anymore for me
