safe mode shows 40 fps max on west coast usa. hope devs will fix these graphics soon --- Post updated --- Russian words in UI looks broken. Краска not Красится
ohhh yeah. I went from 60 fps on gridmap to 10... I feel like the devs were rushed. This is in no way ready.
OS: CachyOS x86_64 Kernel: Linux 7.1.5-1-cachyos Display (Acer B277U): 1920x1080 in 27", 60 Hz [External] DE: KDE Plasma 6.7.3 WM: KWin (Wayland) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (16) @ 3.90 GHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Lite Hash Rate [Discrete] 32 GB System RAM 12 GB Video RAM Native Linux BeamNG 0.39 is flickering insanely both in the UI and after loading West Coast map. All car, including my own, rubberbanding like heck. Doesn't matter if I try borderless or fullscreen, with or without Vsync, with or without "steam Linux Runtime 4.0" No mods running, even tried the (finally linux-implemented) clear cache. This game was working fine with 0.38 - now its completely unplayable. I think something went wrong with the immense graphics "update" somewhere... It seems my specific configuration is one of the "certain configurations" where this flickering is known to happen *cries* Maybe I'll just reinstall it as Proton/dx12 instead
This might be a missing feature, bug or me simply being blind. Im not finding the correct shader parameter for the ScatterSky class to prevent the sun disk from drawing and from causing reflections on world objects without it also turning the world dark. Previously i used this to create a heavy cloudy map using a SkyBox where it is unrealistic to have the sun disk visible and have it cause reflections and shadows. This is the desired look from < 0.39. - You can clearly see how there is no visible sun, - no reflections from it and - no shadows But still a background lighting which i had controlled with the "brightness" param (which has absolutely zero effect since 0.39). Since 0.39: With the new ScatterSky the "atmoAbsorbtion" param can be used to control world lighting. And the "atmoSunAngularSize" to control the sun disks size. However turning the later to 0, or actually -0, will turn the sun invisible (Yay! well almost, it flickers). But doing so also disables all light emission from the ScatterSky (naay). Demonstration video: https://nextcloud.neverless.dev/raw/8ZDzFtix6ntLrKp I tried to troubleshoot this in two ways. 1) With the BasicSun. The BasicSun has at default no sun disk (great!) but it causes reflections and shadows, of which only the shadows can be disabled. And the lighting from this object is unfortunately horrid as well. So its not an option.(fuuu) 2) I then tried the CloudLayer class and set the coverage to 5 as to make it appear that the whole sky is cloudy. This dims the light, but the sun keeps causing reflections, shadows (if enabled) and the disk stays visible as well. (im loosing) I figured i ask / report about this, since im at a loss as of how to recreate this < 0.39 effect
Draft is WAY too strong at high speeds. Low drag cars like the 200bx go from 175 mph to 205 just by being behind 2 cars. Even single car draft im getting impossible runs Typically cars like the 200bx in pack racing form would only go maybe 10 mph faster in a pack (including side draft and whatever else is happening). One of my friends reported that a 200 horsepower 200bx that reaches 150 mph no draft hits 210 in a tandem
i have the same thing, dude. my PC is much weaker, but it's still there. GPU - GTX 1050ti CPU - Intel i3 10100 RAM - 16GB DDR4 before the update, I was getting 40-70 fps depending on the map (40-50 fps on WCUSA). Now I'm getting 15-30 fps... (22 fps on WCUSA i know my pc is outdated for beamng, but that's too much of a hit for just one update
Im scared to try the game on my dual core I5 laptop, used to get around 30fps, but I guess I gotta find out what I get on it now.
I’m not saying the update is bad, but it’s disappointing to see the bad FPS drops. I’m fine with the bugs and stuff, since they can easily be fixed in a bugfix. But how in the world did the devs mess up optimization this hard?
Just like with the last update reported, the safe mode that normally gets triggered after running the game directly after the update wasn't triggered this time again. Sadly there is no tool to trigger that mode manually. The safe mode from the menu isn't the same, it doesn't respect any user settings at all
what is even more dissapointing is that the devs promised us that it would be equal or "slightly less" performance, and yet it is just horrid. I would have honestly waited another 2 weeks for them to sort this out
While testing my mods and fixing them up i also kept on noticing that about once a minute the PhysicsAndVLUA go completely rampant.
honestly from what i hear, the aero push physics are good and the side draft is good. its just the draft itself ramps too high
