Hey everyone, there’s a user on modland.net named 2tog7 who has been taking mods that other authors created with great effort and selling them as if they were his own. Users have noticed this and called him out on it, but he denies it and claims he created the mods himself. I have proof—for example, a Peugeot 207 SD created by uk.beamng; he sells it, even though the mod is originally free. I find this incredibly disrespectful to the mod developers.
Random people stealing and reselling mods has been a known problem in the BeamNG community for quite a long time now. ModLand is known to be pretty much complete anarchy with barely any rule enforcement and there's nothing the devs or the community can do about it except for avoiding that stupid site altogether
It sucks to see reuploads, but it's best to avoid them like @RealVector said. There is another ModLand reuploader called Anton and he doesn't resell mods, he reuploads free mods and he's sometimes chronically online. His reason? It's because "not everyone has access" to the repo according to him.
No, It's the truth. It's not just modland either. It is an entire network of websites that have mods for BeamNG that are stolen. One goes down and another comes back up. It's a losing battle.
Modland is a shitty website with paid mods now anyway. It's a scumbag move to re-upload paid mods by original content creators like LJ74. I don't feel bad for the mesh slappers who sell real cars. They deserve to have their mods leaked. But now modland is a haven for those paid mesh slappers as well.
I don't really think that's true, Modland has been like the biggest site with those issues for quite some time now. And BeamNG is not exactly a small or indie company, I think they have the resources to sue them (and they 100% should).
