On the topic of all alcohol/drug/smoking references being removed in order to be safe for other countries, I wonder if anything will happen to the churches, specifically the crosses on top. The crosses are direct references to religions like Christianity/Catholicism, and it could possibly have some kind of controversy in other countries. I really hope they don't remove them, though. The churches would look kinda basic without the crosses.
I have no idea, thats why I'm wondering. I wonder how much they're actually censoring. Also apologies if it sounded offensive to anyone who is Christian/Catholic, I'm just generally curious about the changes to the maps.
If BeamNG removes the crosses and references to Christianity, I will spontaneously combust. I highly doubt they would though.
I hope they don't. It's a shame how everybody has to walk on pins and needles nowadays to avoid being sued for some garbage reasons.
I somewhat doubt they will. Differences in religion is an age old debate, one which is (unfortunatley) more global than alcohol or tobacco laws, and I don't see many (or any for that matter) people of other religions being offended or upset that there's churches in BeamNG. There'd be a different story if, say, something pertaining to race or LGBTQ+ rights was in the game, as that would certainly, unfortunatley, divide the community over something that has nothing to do with politics whatsoever with how hot of a topic it is in recent years, but removing churches from the game? Not something I think the devs would be particularly worried about.
My point exactly, if something would to pertain to these within the game, the playerbase would be divided over the political nature of it. I meant it more as in how BeamNG is not political by nature, but politics always seem to trickle in to every community without fail. My bad, I should have worded that a bit better lol Either way, that's not the point at hand. I don't think the devs would worry about something such as churches in the game.
Ah Okay, I get it. Especially lately, I have gotten really tired of politics. It's just so tiring. I like coming to a place where I can distract myself from whatever nonsense is going on.
I'm LGBT, and I think the devs should stay away from any references to it for the game's sake. As much as I'd love a rainbow sidewalk in WCUSA, its just too controversial, and it will most certainly harm the game.
precisely, it'd be a nice touch lol, but with how much it could turn this community into a battle ground, adding something of that caliber would be a very dumb move. That's what modding is for. It gives people a choice over what they want in their game, a rainbow crosswalk for example, or as was pointed out earlier, preserving the BeamBeer sponsors and liveries. Anyways, let's steer this away from politics. I'm sick of hearing about politics EVERYWHERE I go, and like Louie's Workshop mentioned, this should be a place where people can jsut come to and forget about the chaos everywhere else.
I think its best to keep it conservatively realistic, keep things like minor religion and other small things in the game. And keep it regionally appropriate. Like if the game had npcs, keep it regional. No way I would see an indian guy in East Coast, ect. Lil off topic, but I think my point stands. Basically keep it just the pg things you see in day to day life in said map, not forcing other things in just to be inclusive.
Exactly. I love mods. And also, agreed. I was worried sick that I was going to offend someone with my first post, because I hate doing that. Let's move on shall we.
tdev posted them on discord if I'm not mistaken. Someone posted a ton of them at the top of page 3938 of this thread
