    Hi, new to the forums, made an account specifically for this, I was redirected here by support.
    Is anyone hitting SSL certificate errors? Specifially, if you run the linux binary through the console:
    ```
    [ERROR] Curl error: SSL certificate OpenSSL verify result: unable to get local issuer certificate (20)
    ```
    Native build throws SSL Certificate error, and cannot connect to the official repo through ingame means. Logs, when the binary was run from ./BinLinux/BeamNG.drive.x64
    Note that this also blocks BeamMP access (somehow, I suppose the mod version conflicts).

    I'm on Cosmic Desktop, Fedora 44. This issue happened with GNOME 50 as well (after upgrading to Fedora 44, naturally).
    This issue does not persist on the proton version, but naturally it's a much worse experience so I'd rather avoid it entirely!

    Did you ever end up figuring it out? Having the same issue for me it also for some reason needs a restart after saving each config.

    No unfortunately I never found a fix. At least I know now the issue is with the Linux build and not on our end. Thanks for posting.

    Seems like there are some certifacte issues when using fedora 44, i used opensuse tumbleweed before reinstall and it worked fine, on fedora 44 the beamng mod repo is unable to load and the following is in beamng.log:
    34.93412|E|SecureComm| curl failed: SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK
    34.93845|E|SecureComm| Unable to log in. Unable to connect: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

    This might be beacuse of fedora ssl bundle location:
    This command "openssl s_client -connect beamng.com:443 -CApath /etc/ssl/certs" returns "Verify return code: 20 (unable to get local issuer certificate)",
    but this one "openssl s_client -connect beamng.com:443 -CApath /etc/pki/tls/certs" returns "Verify return code: 0 (ok)"
    I dont know a lot about ssl but i guess somewhere in beamng code the ssl path is hardcoded so it works on some distros but on other it doesnt,
    i guess you could get the openssl dir with ``openssl version -a | grep OPENSSLDIR``, for me on fedora it returns ``OPENSSLDIR: "/etc/pki/tls"`` but idk if that would be how you get certs dir in code or there is a better way, but i might be wrong about all that, i only know ssl briefly.

    I solved it by symlinking the following:
    ```
    sudo ln -sf /etc/pki/tls/certs /etc/ssl/certs
    ```

    I can't find this anywhere. I did find a reference to something called "Linux-Specific Drag saveSystem File Fix 1.0" but all of the links are dead for me. Is this what you were referring to?

    Code:
    1. For that go into the game installation to /BeamNG.drive/lua/ge/extensions/gameplay/drag/
    2. Then open the file saveSystem.lua in a text editor
    3. Search for "M.generateHashFromFile = function(vehicleId)"
    4 Replace the whole function with this one

    M.generateHashFromFile = function(vehicleId)
      -- Generate a hash from vehicle config file for unique identification per config
      if not vehicleId then
        vehicleId = be:getPlayerVehicleID(0)
      end

      --[[
      -- Get vehicle details to find the config file path
      local vehicleDetails = core_vehicles.getVehicleDetails(vehicleId)
      if not vehicleDetails or not vehicleDetails.current then
        log('W', logTag, 'Could not get vehicle details for ID: ' .. tostring(vehicleId))
        return "vehicle_" .. tostring(vehicleId)
      end
      ]]

      -- Get the config file path (pc_file contains the full path to the .pc config file)
      --local configFile = vehicleDetails.current.pc_file -- doesnt contain the pc file path in carreer mode
      local configFile = core_vehicle_manager.getVehicleData(vehicleId).config.partConfigFilename -- temp fix
      if not configFile or configFile == "" then
        log('W', logTag, 'No config file path found for vehicle ID: ' .. tostring(vehicleId))
        return "vehicle_" .. tostring(vehicleId)
      end

      -- Ensure it's a full path
      if not string.find(configFile, "^/") then
        configFile = "/" .. configFile
      end

      -- Hash the config file
      if FS:fileExists(configFile) then
        local hash = FS:hashFile(configFile)
        if hash and hash ~= "" then
          return hash
        end
      end

      -- Fallback to vehicle ID if hashing fails
      log('W', logTag, 'Failed to hash config file: ' .. configFile .. ', using vehicle ID fallback')
      return "vehicle_" .. tostring(vehicleId)
    end
    ima just reposting
    kudos to original author

    That looks like it may have fixed it for me. Tested two different cars in career and freeroam. So far so good. Thanks for reposting!

    Hi, thank you for the report, this issue is already fixed for the next release. The workaround posted in this thread is usable in the meantime.

    Hi, I tried with a fresh Fedora 44 container and the `/etc/ssl/certs` symlink already exists there. We'll change the CA path detection to be dynamic for next release as it seems static path detection breaks too often with distributions not following a single standard. Until then you will need the symlink to exist.

    greetings forum people!

    around a week already, i can't play normally beamng. game occasionally crashes, mostly with ui freezing, or just with crash reporter window.
    i tried by my own, fix the game, but just nothing helped\worked.

    i dug into logs, and here is some interesting stuff from a safe mode session:
    • CEF repeatedly fails to render license plate textures: "Frame not rendered: VehicleTex-@licenseplate-*" (rendered=0, requested=10–14)
    • lightmanager reports "Failed to init default system" early in startup
    • log cuts off abruptly at ~296 seconds with no crash signal, no shutdown message
    with mods, situation is not looking better:
    • log hits the 15,000 entry limit and gets truncated — crash is not captured
    • CEF texture rendering issues appear here as well
    i tried clearing cache, some env parameters for game, and pretty much everything that i tried - did not made game playable at all.
    game works pretty much same every time. and all that started, probably because of my update from fedora 43 to 44....

    i would be really glad for any help just to make the game playable for at least an hour, instead of these constant crashes after 5-20 minutes.

    specs of my pc:
    • os: fedora workstation (on wayland)
    • cpu: ryzen 5 5600
    • gpu: msi armor oc rx 580 8gb
    • ram: 32gb
    • game: problem happened on 0.38.5.0.19602, and continues on 0.38.6
    • kernel: 7.0.8-200.fc44.x86_64
    • mesa version: 26.0.6

    do you have a gpu selecting program or menu? make sure it selects your dedicated gpu instead of discrete built into cpu or linux does not try mesa rendering with cpu
    i have nvidia so i do "prime-run beamng" but ima not sure how it works on amd and your specific config
    olso
    did you had wayland on fedora 43?

    --- Post updated ---
    yes, i had wayland on 43 fedora. and had no problems at all. trouble with stable work of game, started after my update to 44 fedora.

    all i have, is plenty of log files, and nothing useful.
    i don't like gentoo:)
    if this is normal behaviour, why then game just don't work "normal", and crashes out of nowhere?
    aren't game supposed to log some error then?...

    your log looks okay
    try changing from windowed to fullscreen or vice versa depending on your current setting, seems that distro makes some bad things with game window if it happens to glitch ui somehow
    --- Post updated ---
    the game should tottaly make a log entry when it crashes, and beamng mostly do
    but if the main prcoess of game crashes then it cant make a log ;]
    try running game in terminal
    even if main process of game crashes you will be left with segfault or some other error
    and bring here the last 10 lines of std output form terminal, they are crucial fo r pinpointing issue

    minidump removing wont show much only memory regions and loaded libs list at best
    you would need to run debugging version of beamng to have breakpoints and comments added
    so it wont help much
    i would first try to exchange all loaded libs with ldd from fedora 43 and try running it without crash and then one by one removing libs from LD_PRELOAD to pinpoint exact trouble maker
    u know how to ldd and do preload of libs?

    not exactly:)
    to be honest, all that stuff sounds too complicated for me:)
    isn't there a simpler way i could try?
