Since it seems we have an argument about electric cars, I’ll say this. I really don’t care about electric cars at all tbh, but I don’t think it’s the best option. I just hate the fact some car brands are moving toward making all their cars electric, especially Jaguar (which their brand collapsed after that).
Honestly Hybrid is the way to go for a good, reliable daily driver. Has all the perkd of electric AND gas
Yeah I like hybrids for, as you said, daily driving. But for enjoyment and thrills gas beats everything.
I know AI is debated BUT there is my AI slop post to see how this car MAY i mean MAY LOOK likem now am even more hyped, Due to lack of time i did not have time to ask for a Rear or mid engine verison,
Taking hours to charge doesn't really make a material difference unless you insist on still visiting service stations, since you can charge your car at your own home overnight. Installation seems to run between several hundred and a couple thousand: not cheap, but hardly unattainable for a single purchase, and an increasing number of homes will have these things installed in them already. Except perhaps on long-haul journeys (cross country travel/RV'ing/long-haul trucking), the change to modality isn't that disruptive for most people. And in some places, you may not even need to stop. Additionally, there is one major issue that the 'sovereign citizen argument'—that Big Gov't is going to shut off their power—fails to consider: there are more off-the-grid ways to make electricity, than there are to make gas. Hell, there's a whole community of DIY'ers on Youtube that do just that, using wind, water, solar, etc. I can do it myself with my wind-up emergency radio and a few spare calories. I disagree with you overall, but a small correction in your favor: a bad enough battery fire will still burn fully underwater. Reliable statistics on this are a little hard to find for a quick Google search, but yes, battery fires are a problem. They seem to be slightly rarer than ICE fires on a crash-by-crash basis, or at least are comparable, but that's only from a quick skim. My gut sense is that batteries are probably easier to protect from a crash than a gas tank + fuel line. Fuel is a fluid, that means seals and gaskets, and a lot of places where it could leak, and potentially combust (diesel is exempt, obvs). It's not a commonplace problem for ICE these days, either, but it seems to me to be a problem that can be mitigated by design, even if the chemistry is, for lack of a better word, wacky. But that's more opinion and speculation than fact. That's already happened. Mom-and-pop repair shops are all but disappearing because automotive oligopolies use permission-only software and proprietary parts in damn near everything. But this is a question of incentives, and sticking with internal combustion will not prevent this issue. If anything, it puts the ball squarely back in the court of the well-established manufacturers (the only ones who can afford to produce ICE cars) that started this user lockout bullshit, and takes it away from the likes of smaller startups, like Slate and Rivian, which *may* choose to be a bit kinder. Economies of scale apply to power generation, too. A single facility burning a whole lot of fossil fuels will still be more efficient per mile than thousands of smaller engines burning those fuels. Moreover, the beauty of electricity is that there's a lot of stuff that can generate it. It doesn't need to be a binary this or that sorta thing. You can split the grid 80% coal, 12% PV, 8% wind. Not truly green, per se, but it's possible to work slowly in that direction by mixing and matching.
i usually don't mind some off topic rants but i have email notifs for this thread on and it WONT STOP SENDING ME EMAILS --- Post updated --- i even turned it off and the emails still continue
i even turned it off and the voices still continue mainly cause im nosey and have nothin better to do
All I know is whether it's a GT car, sports car, front or mid engine...I just want a beefy aero kit for it. I'm talking GT3-level widebody and aero. It definitely LOOKS like the right platform for the class. At least needs a GT4 variant to compete with the ETK K, the same way the FCV and Sunburst have some overlap with the NGRC loosely defined rally class
That would be amazing. Could you imagine just how funny it would be, if the devs just like ...purely for the utter confusion that would cause?
None of the arguments against EV's I've seen here matter at all for the game. Well to be honest I skipped most of the messages as its off topic. And we don't even know if it will be an EV, we only have concept sketches (not even full art, just sketches).
Thanks, I was shocked when i saw it i was not overly hyped, as its a vague teaser, now i can not contain the hype lol
Yeah, I don't think it'll be an EV at all, it could possibly (but not likely) be a hybrid. I think it will be a small, mid-engine car like the Alfa 4c or Lotus Emira --- Post updated --- Yeah, concept sketches always look a bit insane and abstract, I don't know why so many people just convinced themselves it's an EV
Alright, let's dig in. They take hours to charge to 100%, which you obviously aren't meant to do while on the road (best to keep them between 20% to 80%). Charging is already not free. The battery pack is not one big battery. It consists of a frame and battery cells. The individual cells may be salvaged. Firefighters already have kits and training for dealing with EV fires. There are 3rd party repair shops that work on electric vehicles. You are correct with the difficulty that comes with reusing battery cells. The technology is currently not developed enough to the point where it would be more seamless. If you're from the United States then your roads are already being torn apart by giant pickups that are being used as grocery getters and white collar commuters. If you're from Europe your roads are already being torn apart by overloaded trucks, since the penalties for that are still laughably low.
