Its probably just a small patch to celebrate the Lunar / Chinese new year. I doubt that means we will get a full blown chinese map.
As a map takes soo much effort and many years to get made. (But it also doesn't mean we won't get it)

 

A Chinese map but we have no Chinese cars (aside from the robo taxi)…I’m skeptical. Do the “regions” for cars relate to where they’re eligible to spawn or country of origin? What do the Japanese cars say?

 

Its where they can spawn, yes. The only other tags are the “northAmerica” and “europe” The japanese cars only say the ones used ingame. This is why I am interested.

Sidenote, the van is the most simplified vehicle now, it has almost no detail. If I am correct and they add a chinese map, I doubt this van will ever be made its own vehicle. It will forever be a secret that spawns in traffic

 

well the last new map we got was Johnson Valley in update 0.27 13.12.2022

so a new map would be possible since we're long over due for a new one

 

This is a vehicle used as an express van in some parts of China, and it can drive automatically.

I live in China now, and there is often a self-driving express car driving on the road near our community, with a speed of about 20-30km/h, which is stable and automatic.It looks very similar to the second picture

But all this is still a few months away from the spring update, and many things may not be finished yet, but this small update shows us the developers' ambitions for the future! I think this is very worthy of in-depth discussion and speculation.

 

As a European i do hope to see more Euro maps & vehicles we've had so much american updates as of late. But Japan & China is quite refreshing too!!

 

It isn't just "Refreshing", having a map set in China would be an incredible digital introspection into a country that barely has any street view footage, I feel like it would be as impressive if not more impressive than a Japan/South Korea map.

 

I agree that China has always been a missing existence in the BeamNG universe. If a city map of China and an electric car of China can appear in the future update, it will be a great expansion of lore in the Asian part of the BeamNG universe.

 

Yup, the PRC has such a big impact to the automotive and technical space that it's impossible to ignore, unless you're BeamNG AG until now.

 

Upon closer thought, BeamNG has never had a car built on a pure electric platform. Even the electric versions of the SBR4 and FCV are merely retrofitted onto combustion vehicle platforms. I think if the developers consider adding a vehicle based on a pure electric platform in future updates, chances are they will categorize it under a Chinese brand.

It is now 2026, and six years have passed since the release of the most cutting-edge and modern in-game vehicle, the Cherrier FCV. By 2025, all of BeamNG's vanilla vehicles had already been discontinued.

We love this thing, mostly because it points towards something bigger, I think that this is a preparatory update for a big teaser.
