Was. Now i work for Walmart which is definitely not what i would call being mechanic. Literally all i do is fart around and change oil and tires its pretty boring. Not a job you can take much pride in but it pays good though. Would like to maybe be a actual mechanic again cause i did like actually using my brain doing stuff, welding, and fixing stuff at my old job but it pays less than what i make now, ungodly hours and is harder on my body so why tf would i do that.

Welp my Chrysler is officially going to the junkyard my next weekend. The extra money I was going to use to get the cylinder heads on my chrysler 300 resurfaced, pressure tested, valve job. Is just gone. That was supposed to be done my last weekend but i didnt have the extra cash anymore cause i lent it and then some to my father the day before my weekend. The extra money for the cylinder heads was the last thing keeping me from just getting the car done and was supposed to be the last big chunk of money i would ever spend in a long time and i was honestly planning to just flip the car after it was all done but i lent the money i saved for it to my father who said he needed it and would pay me back the week after. I trusted him cause well hes my father, hes not that old(under 50) always been a techy financially smart guy. ive always viewed him as a smart man and i love him and would always help him out if he needed and i fully trusted hed pay me back cause he never hasnt and i never thought my father of all people would ever fall for a scam. Like if my grandpa or grandmother asked me for 5 grand id be more weary and ask more questions. Well unknown to me he was in what i think is called a pig butchering crypto scam and all of that money i lent him is just gone. 5 grand i lent just gone and i cant afford to save up all that money a second time just to blow it on a car now and now i need to help financially support my family cause they lost everything. Its largely my fault for blindly trusting my father. I wish i could of stopped him but i mean he kept it so secret i had no idea what he was doing.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that

You Americans have service bays at shopping centres?

We have them in Australia as well

Mycar Tyre & Auto used to be known as Kmart Tyre & Auto, although they sold it. Some are still built into the main building of the shopping centre though

Oh that's right, haven't seen a Kmart tire and auto in years, so they just rebranded then. Yes I now remember there is one in the Carousel shopping centre

Come to think of it, haven't seen a Kmart in a goodly number of years now too

They are pretty abundant in South Australia, I shop there quite a bit because it's pretty cheap

Most big shopping centres will have either a Kmart or a Big W or both if it's a big place. There is one in Rundle Mall, which is in the CBD. The rest are spread out in the suburbs. What did you think of Adelaide anyway?

Got see it for about an hour before I had to go to Goolwa. Overall: Worst holiday ever, in the nicest city and surrounds I've ever been to (it was worst because i had to go with family, which never was good idea). Definitely will stay and visit again, but on my own damn terms. Did get to see the Birdwood motor museum which nice. Its god damn driving mecca over there though, seems every one takes advantage of the fact too, people drive so fast, at least most seem somewhat more competent behind the wheel. Didn't like the pubs, whats with you people and your gambling, poker machines everywhere, it was just sad and pathetic to watch people piss money away like that, and your pints are our schooners.

But beyond SA people weirdness, bad pubs and too-fast-speed-limits, I liked it, lots of car people, humidity free climate, good roads and cheeeeeeeeeeeeep fuel baby, helps I might have made some friends over there whom will have room on stand by. Now i just have to put up with the Valiants seat driving there :D

Yeah every pub has a pokies room sadly. Having grown up here I've never looked at our speed limits and thought there was anything wrong with them, but in hindsight you are right. We do have good car scene though, there is lots of car meets, racing, drifting and the like. We have the Adelaide Rally as well which is always awesome. Birdwood Motor Museum is a great place, sucks that you got dragged along with the family though. I also recommend Kangaroo Island if you ever go back.

Guess what the speed limit technically is through this stretch (not including the recommended speed signposted on corners)

Well the only real issue with the speed limits are how dramatic the changes are (but some corners are sign posted way too fast), I mean you go from a 60 zone directly to a 100, but the hundred zone is maybe 400 metres long then your back down to 40. It's ridiculous

I going to say 100 - 60- 110- 80- 100- 30- then the rest is flat to the board because your sick of having to slow down all the time

Lucky you, with all your great car scene, in Perth its a big day if you see the odd old man group with their rides, but old people are never fun are they :(

And we only have barbagallo raceway, a disgrace

The other day I drove on a section of road and there was a 110 sign immediately before you go into a corner which has a sign recommending 85 through it. Makes no sense.

I would argue that the speed suggestion signs too high anyways, for comfort at least, not that any one pays attention to those signs...

Still at least you've actually got the roads for such spirited driving, I recently found out i can out corner and out accelerate a 90s ford falcon. So at I could definitely carve up some tarmac there :D

Most of the time they are about five under what I can do comfortably, however there would be cases where it's too high for sure.

The aptly named Happy Valley has some very high corner speed suggestions

I've never driven through there (I'm only on my L plates so I haven't actually drove that many roads), but I guess they don't actually test the corners to see how fast they can go comfortably and do some good old guesstimation.

My grandma does. She wants to buy the black Camaro back or at least one like it. Traded it in for an ‘85 Wagoneer
My grandpa says he’s gonna be done owning old cars once I get his ‘74 F100

Trading a Camaro for a Wagoneer is unfathomable nowadays, but you're lucky your grandma has such good taste in cars. Neither of my grandmothers even own cars lol.
