I think that the BeamNG Forums got hacked and anyone of the guys in the Forums could suddenly Spam this "Tokopedia" sh!t.

 

I skimmed his account, it looks like it was created specifically for spamming (albeit some time ago, like a sleeper agent), or was at least abandoned by its original creator. It's an over 2-year-old account, with no profile picture and no activity to date.

Edit: I'mma go ahead and say it, there should be limits on how many threads can be created by any one user over a 24-hour period. Like, there is no valid use case for anyone creating ten threads in a day, let alone ~20 in an hour. The only reason I can think of for why you'd want to let users do that, is to prevent encouraging spammers from spamming with multiple accounts (which would be harder to clean up). But even then, supposing that spam actually is effective advertising, multiple accounts spamming would still sound more lucrative than one.

Well, if there's 20 threads all advertising something there is a very high chance you'll actually fall for it, like how making a discourse of high quantity but low quality will get you to manipulate people more easily. Yes, there should be a limit of 4 threads/repo posts / day, assuming one posts 2 mods and creates two discussion threads for it, that is the only reason (other than spam) why somebody would create so many threads in the first place.

Hmmm. Am starting to think there could be a breach, ( to the website, ) maybe this is why there is no teasers? ( as of yet )

 

Maybe we could translate on what the Forum members spamming it are saying (since they aren't English).

Also I found something interesting. The word "Tokopedia" that's always mentioned in the spams is apparently some "Indonesian e-commerce company", not to mention that it's a very huge company.

 

Something I find odd is that it repeated the same thing twice, it added the same thing as an edit except for the first word, within the edit is "Care" before "hubungi".

I think this bot posted these threads, the bot went through the older threads that account had made, edited older posts to include the slab of text, but due to the order of operations in ended up adding the edit to the already existing posts.
OK, so I might have an even more insane theory... Maybe some Indonesian guy got his password leaked and a bot skimmed through all of his forum/social media accounts to make posts (or threads) on all of his accounts.

So I found something out when these were freshly posted: there was a profile picture, I think it was a drawing of a yellow Reliant Robin.

So, there's been a breach on the forums? Because this many accounts getting hacked is strange.
A pattern I noticed is that it seems to affect users who either log in rarely or abandon the account, the poor dude went from replying on some thread in ideas and suggestions to spamming some Gopay BS.

So turn on two step verification boys! And change all your passwords.

Edit: So I started translating the threads, they seem like one of those fake crappy AI Q&A that try to delude the user into a support scam, posted across multiple threads instead and in indonesian... on a video game forum... that is in English.

 

Looks like it is another account doing it now.

 

Many accounts are currently getting hacked it seems. And by the looks of it, those accounts have not been active for a long time
