nice template maps! quick question: you say making an 8192x8192 map is risky, but possible. how would I make one? I'm new to making mod maps
Because no-one ever wants to share a 8192 x 8192 map template (which is possible) I suggest getting Roane County, Tennessee, USA 19.3.1 https://www.beamng.com/resources/roane-county-tennessee-usa.1586/ What's possible there is, you have lots of assets you can place on the map, and there is loads of space to build your own extra long roads or off roads. I have had this map now for over 3 years - and have been editing and playing it for 100s of hours. It's pretty much the only map I play in BeamNG. Because you have enough space to build extra towns and airports, and also the map doesn't require massive hardware. the FPS on there is fantastic.
Is this for non-commercial use only or could I make a paid map with your template map? (with crediting you of corse) I couldn't find any Information about this here. If there was, I'm sorry for wasting your time...
You can use this for commercial or anything you want as long as you credit me somewhere I guess I could add that information. It's alright, you're not wasting my time
Hey feway, just curious if you know an easy way to rename the template map without having to go through each individual file? Id love to use this to start making a map but I want to rename it so it doesnt ever conflict if people have another template by you.
Use the rename map function of my tool. https://www.beamng.com/threads/beamng-tool-for-map-creators-updated-2025-09-16.89058/ find and replace over all files does the job too. But you have to edit the info.json for the map name too.
Hi, the template is great. However, a lot of the assets are not centred on the cursor position so very difficult to place.
Yeah, some objects are far from the point of origin, since that's just how the devs made it when they were making the maps. You can't do anything about it in-game, the only way is to edit them to move them to the point of origin in a program like Blender. I guess I could do that for some objects for you if you want. I'm happy that you like the map!
You just move the .dae file into a folder, for example shapes/buildings folder. You also need to add the textures if they're not in the map already. Try maybe searching for tutorial on youtube
if I wanted to upscale this map (e.g. upscale 64 times, not sure what it's called exactly), would I do that in the World Editor, or another program?
