Hi! I have a problem with color rendering of terrain textures. Dark areas become too dark, and go into purple. What causes this error? On the left is how it should be. This is a screenshot from ETK Driver Experience Center, texture Grass2 (or 1), file t_grass2_b.png (or 2) in Base Color. On the right is my level with textures from the developers. The texture has increased contrast, and the dark areas have become even darker, and have gone purple. I tried loading Base Color from my level in the ETK Driver Experience Center. Everything was fine. I tried the opposite. I loaded the standard files into my level. The error still there. Perhaps the issue is with the level file itself, not the textures. I also checked the Template Map source level that is built into the game. There is an error in it too! Does anybody know, what causes the problem? Can I fix it tn the level itself?
How does the base color texture of your terrain material look like? Try to desaturate it. Terrain textures can be tricky. Just saw that you already played around with it. So no clue from my side.
I tried lighter colors and it works, but it didn't solve the problem. Dark green is better for the artistic purpose. I think, I will try duplicate ETK Driving Center, maybe the error will pass me by.
Take a look at the vanilla textures. You won’t find any colorful ground textures. Poppy colors don’t work with the engine nicely because of blending issues.
I found the solution. The problem was in Detail Strength of the texture. The higher the value, the more contrast the texture appears. Excessive contrast caused slightly dark areas to turn black. Grass in the default ETK map has Detail Strength 0.32. It's three times less than 1.0, which was in my map or which is default when you change old texturing system to the new PBR system. So, don't forget to edit texture strengths!
