Quick update - Disassembly of the radio unit itself was not easy as some parts have seized (either that or I'm an idiot). At the end I re-melted the solder on the relevant connections, and assembled everything. And it all works now, so I'm happy :)

I adjusted the valves today, but i wanted to use a vacuum gauge, so I smashed a chinese copy carburettor thing together as it's got a port for full manifold vacuum, unlike the dedicated slant six hi-performance carb (1967-69 in Australia, longer in other countries), which only has ported vacuum.

Wow, didn't expect that, very healthy numbers. Maybe it takes 60,000 miles to break in a slant six ? :D

Was at a Gearbox Specialist today with my father since his Superbs Rear Differential is starting to make noise. Spotted a rather interresting car there

That is pretty interesting, yeah. I wonder if it's still owned by the team or if it's privately owned.

    Is that shag pile? funky

Gotta love AMC build quality :p By the looks of it the stamped metal piece interferes with lock rod, remind me, are the handles the pull out kind or push button?

Woah, man that peak '80s stylin right there

Oh that's right AMC used those handles since the late '60s, is that rod inside supposed to twist with the handle or does the handle push against that rod? It's confusing just to think about how it works

Pretty sure it pushes the rod and the rod rotates the thicker piece but the thicker piece is bent so it doesn’t do anything

I see how that works now, it looks like the large piece your talking about is supposed to look like that. Have you tried spraying some lube on it?

Are you gonna lower the front end at all now that you have new wheels? Looks a little high
That did it. Of course it doesn’t work when I do it but when someone else tells me to it does
    Thanks though
