Hello everyone, I'm a big fan of this game and I wanted to share an idea. What if there was a free, "lite" version of BeamNG.drive that had a smaller download size? This version would not have car customization or mods, which could make it easier for people with older computers to play. I hope you like the idea! Thank you, mustafa
It doesn't work like this, you wouldn't get any performance from removing content. It's all in how much raw power your CPU and GPU can output.
That sounds like Rigs of Rods ironically enough. If you don't know what that is, it is a open source precursor to BeamNG.
Yeah the performance cost comes from the complexity of the content rather than the amount of it. To get better performance, vehicles would have to be simplified, like the traffic cars for example. And I don't like the idea of having a version of the game where traffic cars replace normal cars, there are too many compromises in them. Map content would also have to be simplified and that's a huge task, unless we just removed the most performance intensive maps, but I don't think players would like that
I'd say that the Demo should include one map, like ECUSA, and one or two cars, with less parts. Let's say the Covet and the BX, or the D-Series and the Vivace or other modern car. Some things could be removed for the demo, but keeping most of the important things to DEMONSTRATE the game
if you want better performance just drop the graphics to lowest setting i got beam to run pretty nicely on a cheap lenovo laptop for a while until i bought my first computer
True, that's what the demo is there for. But it's based on version 0.13 or something like that and it should cover at least somewhat modern features, animations and stuff. I think ECUSA is fine and Gridmap V2, plus a modern car, an old one, and something bigger to demonstrate hydraulics and all that (e.x. half of the T-Series).
