TrackpadUser updated Blackpool Superlite with a new update entry: Completely revamped mod from scratch Read the rest of this update entry...
Great work, really good revamp! I noticed the RSV wheels do not appear at all though, either on the config or if you try to select them:
It requires my interior parts pack : https://www.beamng.com/resources/racetec-universal-racing-parts.27379/ I think it should be displaying a message everytime you respawn without it installed? I'll add a notice to the mod page.
I should try this out --- Post updated --- though the game constsntly reminding me i need a mod to go with it really annoyed me with the trackfab mods so i might skip it cause i dont feel like getting 2 mods for one thing
It's a common parts pack that I use so I don't have to copy-paste the same things over and over again accross all my mods, with the issues that brings in terms of keeping things updated. The message thing is a temporary solution while waiting for the devs to add automatic dependencies to the repo. Having mods tied to dependencies is a thing in a loooot of games. If that is keeping you from downloading stuff you are missing out.
though the game constsntly reminding me i need a mod to go with it really annoyed me with the trackfab mods so i might skip it cause i dont feel like getting 2 m Automatic dependencies is a great idea for the repo. And also I know why you would have a parts pack for all your mods, the message is just delivered over and over with no link to it in game. The Capsule mod says that it need the Arcanox Core mod, and provides a link to it, before you even leave the mods manager. So much more helpful.
Ok, I didn't know it was necessary for this mod. I didn't see any message and I respawned it plenty of times. I'm sure I have it because of your Formula Ibishu though. Maybe it didn't update properly, I'll have a check.
I've updated it recently but the update shouldn't be necessary for it to work. It was to fix some materials that got broken, as well as adding the parts to more vanilla cars. I'll have to check out how that works. I haven't played with lua outside of vehicle stuff.
Great update, however some tuning options still use non-standard intervals, notable ones being Final Drive by .04 rather then .01, and front wheel offset being... something... Either way, it makes it rather annoying to try and align the front and back wheels with each other
Great mod TrackpadUser. Handles much better then what I remember the old version being like! Given the car is from the UK are you able to make it work with JorgePintos UK Yellow plates for the rear or is that something that they would need to fix on their end? Also with the UK in mind would Imperial gauges be coming? Then one other thing about the lighting. I notice that when the headlights turn on the indicators come on with a solid amber light. Technically the front ones while not a MOT failure (a minor advisory rather then major) its not likely a car company would have them on (Catherham does run the small 5w wedge bulb in the lower half of their headlights as a DRL though) However if its your stylist choice feel free to leave it as it is. Another small issue I have found is that the mirrors for the vehicles with roll cages don't appear to line up and have a gap as shown
I just looked into the yellow plates and it seems to require adding a separate part for it. What I might do is have it as a separate forum mod that I'll link to on the repository page. I don't want to add that to the main package as I'd have parts with no mesh unless you download someone else's mod. Imperial speed gauges were on the todo list, I seem to have forgot to put them in when trying to put together the final stuff for release. For the lights if I understand what you're saying the only things that should light on are the headlamps (obviously) and the red taillights? With the side markers being used only for indicators? For the mirrors that is normal. To be able to use the same mesh on both LHD and RHD cars (as the angle of the mirror itself needs to change between variants) I set them up with a pivot point like the real ones. The misalignement between the mount and the mirror's stem is from adjusting the angle of the mesh so the angle works. You can see that the left and right side mirrors are at a different angle relative to the base.
Yes thats correct about the lights. The lights you've modeled look most like the earlier 3 section incandescent clusters they used til about 2021. Those stayed unlit unless obviously the lights where on for a reason (braking, headlights, indicators). IIRC when they went to the LED clusters the small side lights inside the headlights were used as a DRL and the tail lights stayed on as shown in this video If you'd indulge me getting nerdy about the lights technically we're also missing rear reflectors and a numberplate light (irl mounted below the plate when no spare wheel, and above the plate attached to the wheel holder with the spare. I hadn't realized the mirrors on caged examples pivoted like that, i havent been up close with one like that and thought they must have adjusted like a motorcycle mirror so very much stand corrected! Anyway keep up the good work! id love to own one irl one day but even with the extended chassis im a bit too tall so this is as close as im getting (also they're £30000......)
Thanks for the info I'm not sure the mirrors on caged examples all work like that, but I didn't want to have too many separate mirror variants, so I'm using the same mirrors on both the aeroscreen and rollcage. Also, I forgot to answer about DRLs, but since almost no car in beam has DRLs, I prefered to have the car also not have DRLs. If I were to add them to the current light I'd probably do the method that has been mostly standard here (Canada) since they were made mandatory decades ago, which is to use the highbeam filament at a lower power. The lights in general are also kind of a placeholder using vanilla "universal" materials. I've wanted to make my own but my first attempts weren't going super well and at that point I didn't want to delay the update just because of the lights. I also kinda want to get one, as it's a car I've been fascinated by since I first saw one on Top Gear, but they're pretty much not a thing here. Especially since kit car laws are pretty strict in Canada (kits can't include major mechanical components, so a Westfield "single donor" kit is probably fine, but no way you could register a full Caterham kit.)
Its a shame other countries are so strict when it comes to cars like this. The uk at least leaves in loop holes to allow their kit car cottage industry continue with out being constrained by rules regarding air bags, abs etc, but even then it can still be annoying to do (haynes did a great book on basically how to build your own sever from scratch which didnt make it seem to difficult, however you would need to learn to weld and nowadays getting hold a rwd donor car to use is getting harder and harder. I wouldnt worry about the drls, the newest models with the led clusters look a bit wrong in my eyes and even more so now their having led headlights that look like theyve been ripped from some dudes jeep wrangler. If you do end up redoing the lights pretty much everything on it is made by britax (like the tailights are the 165 lambourne / 9060 model shared with the very prestigious Massey Fergusson and JCB tractors!) Dunno if thats any help, but happy to where i can.
