I have recently been working on my River Highway Rework Project and have noticed a weird bug in the World Editor (WE) where I can trick the game into giving a 2-3x fps increase, at the cost of frame drops every second, on the second. It starts by loading WE from free roam (where I get 90-120fps before opening the tool) and the fps drops to between 15 and 25fps, however, there is a chance that if I edit the show/hide state of a SimGroup in the scene tree the fps jumps to between 50 and 65fps with a consistend frame drop every second. I have no idea what causes this and I am wondering if there is an issue that's causing the frame drop every second. Below are performance graph screenshots: Freeroam (No WE): WE (bug not active): WE (bug activated): WE (there is a chance attempting to activate the bug will have the opposite affect and tank the FPS) All screenshots taken were on the same map, same state, post cache clear and on the same PC. I have no idea why the WE performance is so low considering I get similar free roam performance on west coast and sit at 60-70fps in the editor. If anybody has any info at all please share
The problem seems to be with nVidia cards. There is information in the game about problems with FPS. Try turning off vertical sync in the game options. It works for me. Otherwise, FPS in WE drops with every second until the editor stops. There are no problems during normal driving. I noticed in the game version 0.35.
