Weird. Then I have no clue why it wouldn't be working. This new forums update was quite the jarring change, and I do wish they would've told us in advance about it.
Deep Snow I got stuck with my ETK 900 Offroad, so I had to call the local forestry worker for help. Luckily, they were able to pull me out of my misery. The snow is using custom groundmodels for different depths. Most cars get stuck in the (very) deep parts. Only powerful offroad vehicles and trucks are able to get through. I also made the first drift spot of the map. If you want to create your own ones, check out the tutorial I wrote here.
I don't like to share an approximate date, as it'll probably take longer than I expect (I initially thought I'd be done by now, but the map isn't even half way done ).
A bit of a different approach this time. The following screenshots show progress on the dam facility - early and mid WIP and the (almost) final result. I think it's quite nice to see the changes with each step First, I made the overall layout and some major features, like the gate and the collapsed wall. After that, I placed some details and decals such as tire tracks, rubber, graffiti and concrete damage. Finally, I added (toggleable) snow roads, a few potholes, more details, power lines (made with mesh roads) and, very important, ambient sounds. Here's an overview of the full facility from the river: I'll post some more information on and pictures covering other areas of the dam soon.
Glass River Dam Glass River Dam, run by SHW Energy Inc., is Snowflake State's third-largest dam, spanning about 1000 ft / 300 m in width and 400 ft / 120 m in height. It is located between two steep cliffs in the south-east corner of the map. The facility is split into two parts, connected via a bridge. There are two entrances. One is on the right side, from an offroad track following the power line. The main entrance is on the left, where the main road is. This entrance is supervised; all vehicles have to slow down to be properly scanned for entry approval. In case you enter unauthorized/too fast, an alarm will go off (I might make AI police chase you, if I find a way to do that - just had the idea while writing this ). You might have already noticed: I have made two skins for SHW Energy - for the Ibishu Pigeon and Gavril H-Series. I'm going to create more skins in the future, such as police and ambulance liveries. I've added a lot of ambient sounds to this place - water splashing, machinery rumbling inside the buildings, rattling flag poles, ... Without them, the place somehow felt empty despite all the details. Sounds make a map come to life!
This looks really amazing! I notice that background mountains and tress in the pictures blend naturally into the fog and the sky. Are there any tricks? I find the scenery far away in my map somewhat weird... XD Also, the terrain looks good too! Does this mainly owe to the use of PBR?
Thank you I increased fog density to 0.01 and fog atmosphere height to 1000000 (so that the fog covers the entire sky) in theLevelInfo. Fog distance to camera/player is set to 0. I also disabled the sunsky. No tricks really, just messing around with the settings. I'm surprised that it works this well. The terrain uses mostly vanilla pbr textures. I guess that's the main reason, texture-wise. I spend a lot of time sculpting the terrain, so that probably plays a role too. Another screenshot I took today:
Based on the pictures, the quality of this could even rival the vanilla maps! Very nice so far, I've patiently been watching this (and a whole load of other upcoming mods) for a while now
License Plate & Flag Design I've created a license plate design for the fictional Snowflake State, both US and EU plate sizes. Please note that the tanker skin won't be part of this map, it's part of the Fictional Trucking & Service Skin Pack. The blue line is a profile of one of the mountain ranges. The snowflake resembles both the snowyness and the forests of the state, as the spikes look like fir trees. These two elements are also part of the State's flag, but in reversed colors. The flag is inspired by the Alaskan flag. Hope you like it. If you have some ideas for improvements, please let me know
