I don't know what the end result is at the moment...... What I know is, that I will bring all this and further ongoing progress into the next free repo update. I also currently rework the design of Nodehinge Hill. Where previously I just placed houses in a row to create a small-town feeling, I'm now trying to "blend" the buildings, streets, and terrain a bit. It's a lot of work, but not only is it more interesting and has more story telling, it's also fun to reach the levels through the alleys and via various ramps. For example, with a garbage truck — LOL R.I.P. in style
Then I looking forward for the next free update ;>) It is still one of the best maps, so thank you in advance for your incredible work.
Not sure if the RAM in my computer is dying but when I try to launch this map, I get a crapton of memory errors and crashes. It tends to be random, like my GPU (AMD) driver just crashed but it didn't do that the first time I (attempted) to launch this map. Here is one of the errors: --------------------------- WerFault.exe - Application Error --------------------------- The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000012d). Click OK to close the application. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
When i was launching the map for the first time, i setted graphics to lowest, loaded map, played a little bit and then i gone from lowest to low, and then normal. my pc is ancient and it has only 12GB ram and some really old nvidia, on normal it was little bit slower, but still possible to play. Try do it this way. Also sometimes on first attempt it won't load, but try to close it, and then immediately load it again. Loaded things from last try should be still in the ram, and it should load very fast. and new things needs some minute. but it loads and working nice. You know, that it's loaded when you hear sound of Your car while still loading screen, then wait just a while and you got it
Do not use the vulcan mode, I do not know why, but with big maps(not only this one) it gives errors, and even crashes.
It's important to note that BeamNG, like any other memory-hungry software, will request more memory in advance when plenty of memory is available. The information about how much memory an application currently uses is not the same as the minimum amount it needs. I have a test PC with 16GB of RAM and was able to get Homerange to run. I can't say exactly why that worked.
Windows 10. I'm aware that 11 uses more memory, so I'm not using it. --- Post updated --- I don't know if DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 can change the amount of required memory. So I don't know if the game takes more memory on DDR3 than on DDR4 or DDR5.
I've got DDR3 and it works, I'm on windows 10 too, and i play it on normal, not vulkan, it can take some time to load, so start a game, open this map, go to caffe or something, and then it might be loaded, i know, it's frustration to load something on beamng sometimes, but it's possible, idk what can cause this problem on Your pc, of course disable starting with traffic and try to load it on several graphic settings, You can go lowest first, also get grass density and amount of tiremarks on lowest, what it'll do and then try it again and if it causes some errors, can you send here screenshots?
I do not think that dd3 or ddr5 make any differince with the amound of memory a game ask for, It needs a sertain amound of memory to work with, so it does not matter what sort of ram you are using. What is important is that you close as much programs in the background, like social media programs, etc....... every program that is running takes some memory, and cpu usage, and BeamNG needs a lot of that, so use as less as you can.
The amount of memory required is not affected by RAM version, that only affects the maximum rated MT/s
It might be caused eith amount of mods too, but i have about 100 mods active and it still loads nice also try to look at your desktop if do you have there some bigger files there, move them somewhere else and make shortcuts on them also chceck if you have enough space on disc where windows is installed (usually disc C) then look at ptoceses what starts to run when you start your pc and try to eliminate most of them, try to make as much space as possible, try to remove some mods, you doesen't will to use, try to deactivate some of mods you have activated and doesent need anymore, try everything to run this map, because it's worth playing You can even try to deactivate all mods, activate only homerange and then activate them one by one, and look which one could possibly cause crashing it. all is about space. It's the same as air you need to breath. If You're in the small room full of garbage and have only small window, opened onky half, you won't breath well, but when you throw all garbage away and open window full, you'll be able to breath well. so guys try hard, You know what to do
Did some transporting in Homerange, beaurifull map, great size, great roads! --- Post updated --- ps The Sunburst2 station drive very good, this car is extualy the rally version, with normal tires, and is drives superb.
if i were you get 64gb of ram or 128gb of ram i use 64gb of ram on the laptop i get like 30-50% memory use
You're right, more RAM is always good. Ultimately, though, it's a question of budget. When I started creating this map, I only had 16GB and soon realized I wasn't getting very far with it while developing using various applications. I then upgraded to 32GB and then to 48GB. My goal, however, was always to design the map so that it would use as little RAM as possible. A map of this size, with full use of PBR and a high variety of assets, would never be able to run on 16GB. But after all, sooner or later, we all look to the future... BTW: If a software, which is not 100% bug free on RAM request and freeing up RAM, garbage collection and so on (like BeamNG is) has more RAM free to use, it crahes less frequent. This is because if there is plenty of RAM there will be less conflicts. So a big RAM-reserve has the magic to let even buggy software run stable (for a while ).
Driving my Segra semi with a trailer and another Segra on it beneath this bridge, it always collides with the bridge. Its to low for a highway. Please make it at least 1 m higher in the next edition of your map.
You're right . Sorry! I have clearance heights of +4.20 meters everywhere, which is the European standard, but I must have made a fatal mistake here . I'll fix it for the next update.
