@SAEN would you consider adding a mod version history to the first post? Here's a reference picture (1992-2001 Subaru Impreza thread):
>This was originally private, but we were forced to release it after a leaker put it up for sale Well damn, thanks to the leaker for allowing us to get this beauty, then! Obviously the bigger thanks are to the authors, but maybe for future mods they could just release them outright so that leakers don't have to be involved Unless the plan was to release it later, then nvm!
The only reason it's gotten to this point is because it originally was a much poorer quality mod, it's been being constantly updated and tweaked with more things (thanks to some gracious community members) to get it to a more publicly acceptable point in quality. Leakers nevertheless shouldn't be endorsed as private mods shouldn't need to be put through this again
I'm sorry, but I don't really buy into this mindset. Put out any mods, low quality or not, let the players choose which ones they want to use. Yeah yeah entitled yada yada I know the usual retorts. It doesn't hurt the author in any way to just put it out there, it doesn't hurt anyone. I can't support the existence of private mods for that reason. Oh and want a more spicy take? Leakers fill a very important niche in the beamng mods ""ecosystem"". Don't get me wrong, this guy trying to sell someone else's mod is SCUM, I won't deny that, but leaked paid mods keep mod creators honest since the existence of an alternative basically means they NEED to offer good value (not to mention allowing the people who can't buy them enjoy them. Yes, they exist) they also provide a way to try a mod before purchase (for those without demos) and when it comes to private mods, well, they're just releasing things that would never see the light of day otherwise. Obviously I can't say I endorse their behavior, even less when it involves RESELLING mods, and I personally choose to support mod authors because I want them to make more mods, but I think their existence makes the community better, and if you could snap away all leakers somehow it would ultimately hurt the modding scene. This mod itself is a great example, it got released and tons of people came together to improve it, and it all happened thanks to some jerk leaking it.
Well that's interesting... What exactly are you saying? Leakers are needed for the modding community to exist, but also you don't want people to be leakers? I really don't understand...
Basically, his point was that while it sucks that the original paid version was leaked in the first place, it eventually led to it being released for free here on the BeamNG forums by the original author. Because of that, people came together to help improve the mod, and if it weren't for that, the mod would remain a pretty bare-bones paid BeamNG port of a free GTA 5/GTA 4 mod with maybe a few extra parts. I'm just trying to clarify sabinoplane's point here. I'm not going to take a stance since this is a hot-button issue within the modding scene nowadays, and I'm only here to help on mods I like, and that's it.
Great mod. Been watching this thread for a while now, glad to see more configs and overall quality improvements. I'm not sure if the model gaps (other than the rear seat issue) have been reported, but hopefully the slight issues will be fixed in the next *big* update.
