Vulkan uses a lot of VRAM (GPU memory). If your VRAM runs out it will overflow to your normal system memory which will cause lower fps and stuttering. To fix this you can simply lower the game textures. I have the RTX 2060 (mobile) and can play on Vulkan/gain more fps than the normal game API when I use the low textures. Use Task Manager to see if the VRAM has overflowed. It is 99% of the time indicated by the shared GPU memory being a few hundred megabytes more than when the game was closed. In this screenshot the game is closed meaning it will always use 0,1 shared memory for me regardless. This is an example of the VRAM overflowing. Adding up 5,5 from the GPU memory and shared memory it will be 6,4 GB which is more than my 6 GB VRAM. You can have 4, 8, 12, or even 16 GB VRAM. You just have to keep it under the max amount to avoid the fps loss and stuttering. If you are using an Nvidia GPU and want to free up VRAM/fix stuttering or play on higher textures I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go in the Nvidia Control Panel and set the "Vulkan/OpenGL present method" to "Prefer native" From my testing it is a free performance gain because it will use less of your VRAM making it not overflow or allow you to play at higher textures than before. Here are my comparisons using RiviaTuner: D3D11 (the default), 1080p High, except textures are set to normal. Vulkan, 1080 High, textures are set to low because the VRAM was overflowing. So, Vulkan API has almost a +50% fps gain for me by lowering the textures and using the Nvidia Control Panel setting that I listed above. I hope this will help you fix the stuttering/fps if you have any, because it did for me.
