In the early 2000s, AvtoVAZ (the company behind Lada) signed a joint venture with GM

They started in 2002, producing the Chevrolet Viva
Due to low sales, they stopped producing that, and made the Chevrolet Niva

in 2019, AvtoVAZ acquired most of the GM stake, ending the venture

 

Fun fact: Chevrolet Niva before 2002 was sold as VAZ-2123
