Starting work on a 1977 Holden Torana A9X, been working on this for some time but would like to get it into beamng eventually.

This will take a while, just wanted to share current progress - I'm thinking about a year or so as it's just something I do in my spare time and I'm in no rush.

I'll update this post as the model comes along and progress is made,

    Cheers,
    T.

Oh my god dude, I love it! Amazing to see such a beautiful and iconic Aussie car in the forums. Can't wait to try it whenever it's done, it's the closest I'll ever get to buying one haha. Good luck and have fun, I'm all for it!

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated!

Yeah, they are getting a bit expensive these days with some fetching over $250k - would have been a great investment 30-40 years ago

    Will post more pics shortly.

    Cheers,
    T.

    Hey guys,
Did a quick subdiv & mesh smooth for a quick render - Its coming along but still needs a fair bit of work on the body mesh (amongst many other things lol)
Also mapped headlight covers and attached image of what final mapped version will look like.

    Cheers,
    T.

Definitely would have been a great investment! My own dad back in the 90s had tons of cars and bikes that are all coincidentally collectable now. He had a Ford Lotus Cortina MK1, VL Walkinshaw, a rotary powered Holden Gemini, R100 and his VL Calais, I mean, I don't mean to boast but I live in awe every day knowing my dad owned these things. Even his mates had endless cars, magenta Valiant Chargers, Toranas, HQ's, even the greek guy across the road had a new GTHO XY and XW every year, each a rarer spec than the last (Although most of them were probably rebirthed). On top of all that they illegally raced 'the runs' with these customised collectors items. (Apologies for the rant but I just love talking about it)

I love the progress and keep it up man!

That's a pretty good list of aussie classics right there - must've been fun growing up around those!

I've been working on the flares this last week and couldn't get the bolt cutouts looking good so ended up making them again from scratch.
Happy with how they turned out but spent way too long on them. Now just have to marry the body mesh up to them a bit better.

Was thinking of doing the standard LX SS aswell seeing as I have to model the original fender behind the flares anyway.
Even though back in the day when they used these for the ATCC series the front and rear quarter panels were just butchered away (behind the flares) with an angle grinder to fit the bigger boots on.

    More pics soon,
    T.

    Lol, thanks - it's a blessing & a curse : )

Been working a bit on the drivetrain & chassis - scouring the internet for pics to get the finer details.
Got the rear drums and front discs done - fair bit of placeholder stuff atm to make sure I get everything in the right position.
    Think it's pretty accurate.
    Few more pics:

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words - its much appreciated!

Been working on some exciting stuff this week like alternators, radiators, heat boxes and stuff lol.
Also did the inner guards in the engine bay so can start modelling master cylinder & washer bottles etc.
    MIght take me a bit.

I initially wasn't going to spend too much time under the hood (haha) but had a look at a few beamng cars the other day and decided I better model everything.....
The standard of these is quite high so it's going to take a bit of time to get something close.

Anyway, here's a few progress pics and I'll keep swimming,

    Cheers,
    T.
