I was going to say the same thing, no preview, no title, no description and a Fatal Lua Error on launch.
Finally got an update out again! - Stage 4 is now finished - most stages have been optimized - all special characters are removed so maps work again now thanks to the experimental biome tool, and the new road editor i have a better opportunity to make more maps. next beamng update the biome tool might be finished, so after the holidays i will use this to further optimize maps. Next up should be stage 5, which will be a real challange since its very long, so i have to stretch the map alot
Hey. The mod map dosen't show up and, dosen't for me. I've tried deep cleaning cache files and It didn't worked. Please fix this. I love your beautiful mod map.
Hi! First of all.. These stages is amazing! Just thinking is there goin to be time trials or a rally mode for these stages?
Eventually yes. my first goal is to make them driveble and more optimized, and also just make every map first.
I unfortunately don't know how to fix this, its happening to me as well. one work around as of now is to press F11 and use open level in the editor and find the file there However some good news: I have figured out a more effective and accurate way of making maps. right now i am remaking some maps, but i don't have alot of time on my hand atm. I will never give up on this project and hope to get some progress the next weeks
to fix the west coast issue look into the level's info.json file. it has some preview files that are missing. so either remove those lines or add the actual jpeg files its looking for.
Glad you are enjoying the stages . I will update them when I have time, but I don't want to give any estimates yet.
Hello! Will you provide the other stage files as well? Because in the drive link you have sent a quite a long time ago there is only SS1, SS3, SS7, SS8. Also with the new BeamNG 0.39 will you optimize SS8, beacause as far as i can tell it's a bit broken, no gravel textures! Thanks in forwards
Hi, I thought that I should probably give an update regarding the whole project after reading your messages. And explain the problems I am facing and actively working with to be able to release maps i think are worthy of being released. First a bit about something that affects all of the stages. Earlier I used an ineffective method for creating the terrain. I would: download pointcloud data Use cloudcompare to convert it into a mesh Use blender to convert the mesh to a .dae file Import the .dae file into beamng Use the "move terrain" tool to shape the terrain after the mesh. The reason this is ineffective is because the point cloud provider woulg give me the data in 400m x 600m (1200ft x 1800ft) and the biggest map i used this method with (stage 4) is 12km x 12km (19mi x 19mi). This took weeks for maybe one map, and all of the currently relased maps were made this way. The method i use now is way simpler and faster, the thing that takes the longest time is waiting for provided data, which is only around 12 hrs at most. When i have the data i can create a heightmap and import it to beamng within 10-15min. The only problem is that it is not as accurate as the first method yet, though this is probably a skill issue on my part. This method also makes the road smoother overall, which is great. Now to the individual stages Stage 1 This place doesn't really exist anymore because of a new highway. The data is there but i can't go to the place in person to see if everything looks right. It is also very short, which makes it a bit boring lmao, but this is not a valid exuse Stage 2 Half of the stage data is made up of a low quality laser scan making the road rough to the point of being undrivable. I could smooth this out manually, but this would take alot of time. I am currently working on a way to smooth the road automatically, which also keeps the road curvature and camber for the highest possible realism. Stage 3 Mountain blocks the laser from reaching a part of the road. This is less than 500m but i will try to find a way to fix it. Stage 4 Same problem as stage 2 and 3. It was finished but half the map was smoothed out manually and it doesn't drive well. This is the map i am currently working on and testing different methods to make the smoothing process faster and better Stage 5 Its huge, absolutely massive. This is because the road only goes north to south (more or less) while for example stage 4, which is longer, kinda curves around Stage 6 Same problem as stage 2 70% of the map has a low quality laser scan Stage 7 and 9 Not any problems, i am just not working on it atm Stage 8 50% has a low quality laser scan And an overhang causing a bad road in one place Stage 10 Something that affects all maps, which is height correction. Makes the lower parts of the map compressed Stage 11 Entire map is a low quality laser scan, probably alot of overhanging cliffs as well I will update the main post eventually, but probably not before i have figured out a reliable way to make the roads good. Tldr: i have practically started over to make the maps better and faster, i will try to work as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience
i assume you are aware of the batch function in mapng, it was made specifically for making multiple rally stages, i can place at least 6 real life stages on one 16km map. it takes a bit of work at the beginning as i am cutting multiple pieces and manually assembling them in one 16km square, but once the base map is set up it's quite straight forward.. i have a dev-log for my workflow on the rally colorado map here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/devlog-making-a-16k-real-life-rally-map-rally-colorado.110174/
