    Steinwinter Supercargo 2040 concept

Hello! This is a BeamNG mod that I have been working on for a little while now, based on the 1983 Steinwinter Supercargo Cab-Under truck concept, where the cab of the truck is seated underneath the trailer rather than in front of it. I have seen this mod in farming simulator, but I couldn't find a good source for any 3D models, so I put my modeling skills to good use and decided to make one myself!

Currently, the only thing I have modeled is about 90% of the exterior, but I will be starting on the frame and interior in the next coming days. I have no idea when (or even if) this will get done, as I'm still learning quite a bit along the way as this is my first fully-featured mod, so please be patient and updates may be slow, as I have to balance my current job with this, but luckily I'm currently off school for the summer.

Multiple variants are planned to be included, but as of right now I am only working on the two axle variant with a rear dually axle. The truck currently does not have a name, so if you have any ideas, feel free to leave a reply!

I would love to publish this mod for free, but once I feel like I'm getting enough progress that I will actually finish this, I will set something up so you can donate to the cause and make me feel like I'm not wasting my time. I don't want to ask for any money now, as I'm still not fully sure whether or not I will actually finish this, and I don't want people to give me money just for nothing to come of it.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and now here's a few photos of the truck itself along with my 3d model progress:

This is awesome! Never expected to see this made for Beam, as it's such an odd and niche vehicle. I personally think you should make it lore-friendly. Good luck on this one! I'm sure it'll be a blast to mess around with this.

Reminds me of people from the 60s going crazy with imagination and prototypes.

Sorry for not giving any updates for a while, but work on the front end is almost done and I have decided that work on the frame and mechanics will wait until the next update, as an update to the t-series was teased, which I plan to base much of the drivetrain off of. I will send updated photos later today, but for now I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for things I should add, such as drivetrain configurations, body styles, liveries, trailers, anything, and I’d be happy to add them if possible. I would also like to know if anyone has suggestions for what to name the truck, as I have decided it will be lore-friendly and original. Thanks!

Make a 4 wheel version like the original and I'd pay too dollar for that

I know It may sound Crazy, But what about using the Bolide's cabin as the cab? If you remove both the front and rear subframes, you'd get a quite low cabin that fits under a trailer, and could serve as a base for the Jbeam, and model itself.

That's a picture of what I mean. Ok, the ground clearance would be bad, but nothing that an Air suspension couldn't solve. Of course the bolide's body would need to be widened, but again, nothing ridiculously hard. And you get all the interior from a car, something that the Steinwinter Probably had

Hello! I'm a beginner 3d modeler and wanted to make a model of that truck(Also, i do play BeamNG :3, but i digress), i tried finding any blueprints or good images, but barely found anything. I was wondering if you'll be willing to share the model or the images/blueprints that you used as a reference to make the 3d model?

Oh boy, it has been a long time since I touched this project, but I return with good news!

Due to a lack of good references, I have decided to return to the more well-known design of only four wheels (or six if you count the rear dually axle). I do, however, plan to add many additional variants, as I would like to keep this project very similar to the inventor, Manfred Steinwinter's original idea of a modular truck that can serve many purposes, with an adaptive frame to match, much like the current T-Series we have, just about as tall as a Civetta. Current 3D model progress has reached the point of being about 90% complete from the outside, but I still have a long ways to go in terms of modeling the frame, interior, and coming up with a design for the engine bay and internals as months of research have turned up nothing regarding the mechanics of this other than some drivetrain details.

But now I reach a much greater issue: What do I name this thing? I plan to make this a lore-friendly version, but i've been struggling with coming up with a name. It needs to be something that sounds futuristic, but also like a truck. And preferably a bit German as well. I don't want to just call it like the Winterstein Ultracargo 4020 or something basic like that, I would much rather call it something completely unique. From what I can tell, the 2040 in the name refers to the trim level, like how with the T-Series has names like the TC83, with the C meaning Cabover, and the 3 meaning it has 3 axles. Perhaps 2040 could refer to the amount of wheels, like 20 is 2 in the front and 40 is 4 in the rear, of course referring to the dually axle. It could also represent 20 as in two axles, and 40 could be a trim level, like if 0 was the lowest and 80 or 100 is the highest.

Anyway, I've attached a photo of the 3D model progress as it stands, but I will be working on it more in the coming days. If anyone has any name ideas, feel free to leave them here. If you want to contact me personally, like if you would like to help out with the work or have anything you wish to talk about privately, you can reach me on discord @theoaktreeman, but please keep notifying me there to a minimum.

I would quickly like to thank this website for having some great pictures of the construction of the truck, which will be instrumental in the modeling of the frame, along with the interior. https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/oldtimer/steinwinter-cab-under/
And big thanks to MF DOOM, TV Girl, Justice, and BADBADNOTGOOD for being amazing artists and making some of the most banger music i've ever heard, I listened to these artists almost exclusively the past few months and likely will as the project continues. Music really helped me through a bit of a tough time I was having recently, hence the brief hiatus. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. Thanks for caring about my stuff y'all, more updates coming soon!

    One question:
Does it use custom trailers, or could it use the standard fifth-wheel layout that trucks of the time used?
    And an observation:
This would be a really good truck for moving trailers around small areas, like warehouses and airports. Shame it sounds like it was only a concept.

The truck used a custom trailer that was extended to be as long as possible while still meeting European truck length limits, which is the whole reason why the truck exists. From what I can tell, it just uses a standard fifth wheel connection, and would be able to connect with any trailer.
And about your observation: many trucks like this exist other than just this, the most notable example being the pushback trucks that are used to move airplanes backwards as they can only go forward. For regular transportation, the only examples I have found are short-lived specialty vehicles mainly used for extremely heavy haul uses, but this concept was definitely not the only of its kind. There are even companies planning to revive this idea for self-driving trucks, as it would not require a driver's cab. Even Steinwinter themselves have made concept drawings for a modern version of this truck, but I doubt it will realistically go anywhere.
