Currently dirt and sand is rather unrealistic, you just slide rather than bog down. We have a decent mud system already, why don't we make it map wide?
Would make driving entertaining/realistic. If you drift on a tarmac road and your rear slides onto the dirt, you might flip. We can't do this in BeamNG currently. I think this oughtta help.

Have you driven a car on dirt? A little patch of grass next to a road isnt going to be the same as a mud bog at all, cars don't just magically sink into it.

It would take either insane speed or some really top-heavy vehicle to flip when its tires hit dirt off the side of the road mid-drift. Dirt doesn't bog you down. It just is much less grippy and will cause cars to slide and lose traction. Sand, on the other hand, does bog you down if it is deep enough. I don't really see a problem with the current dirt.

Gameplaywise I totally agree with you. It feels better if the car is slightly sinking in the dirt. Not as much as in the sand or mud though. Maybe 1/4 or less of the distance the car is sinking in mud...And the car shouldn't flip if touching it...the others are right with that. But I also think that the dirt needs some revamped particles and skid marks to make it feel more right. The skidmarks should leave a three dimensional trail behind(normalmapped not meshed), not only when drifting but at anytime...something like this but not as exagerated:

But as always I am sure the devs already have all this stuff planned :)

Maybe the cars can get dirty too?

I saw a Mercury Sable roll over two nights ago after sliding off the road side ways. Caught the dirt on the side of the road, dug in and ended up on his side.

Thank you. Thats what I was try to say. If your wheels dig into the dirt while drifting/sliding, you can flip.
