ship poly control arm bushings to my old address and now I have to drive 2 hours away to pick them up because I'm an idiot
Only thing I've had to do to my car recently is replace a broken courtesy lightbulb. It decided to finally go out after 31 years, good ole made in the USA General Electric unit
I think i hurt the car badly, runs fine but has a very pronounced: Tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk noise from the valvetrain, happened today at lunch time whilst pushing the engine hard, causing it to warm up more than normal, causing it to lean out more that usual, (i ive always had a leaning issue on my BBD's) causing it to gradually ping more and more without me noticing until i finally started the climb up the big hill back to work. Fired up the car after work... Plunk Plunk Ker tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk tunk...
Bought a new Eastwood fender roller(The mishimoto one i bought over a month ago was made so bad i couldnt even assemble it) to get my new Volk TE37 wheels that have been sitting in my garage for well over a month now to fit. Bought a ZZP performance short ultra quiet resonator to replace my current vibrant 1792 res so my exhaust not no longer sounds super raspy. Was supposed to clean my cars interior(cause of the people i drive around my car smells like cigarette smoke now) and clean my car but im always driving my step mother to doctors appointments now days so i never got the chance to this weekend.
Have you figured it out? OT: My carburetor is currently completely disassembled. I need to get some cleaner, because it's really dirty. I'll post photos later. I mean, really dirty.
Might just be some piston slap, a week on it still runs like a champ, minus the way-too-far retarded advance to compensate for the cheap chinese carb that runs way too lean making it a slug, noise is still as apparent, all the valves are set correctly and all the push rods are spinning. Cant say ive ever heard of pinging being able to only make the pistons slap about and absolutely nothing else, be good to see what it all looks like when i pull the head off in future... What ever you do DO NOT touch the hex nut screw thing on the metering rod cradle thing, and be gentle when you try to put the top back onto the main body, really easy to scratch or damage the metering rods/jets from wiggling it all about for the rods to slide back into the jets
Photos didn't come through --- Post updated --- Also CRC stuff is usually the best , brakleeeeeeeeeeen and the less harsh carb cleeeeeener is tops
nope I bought some stuffs for the Suzuki The outer chain case arrived yesterday, and I bet you can't guess which one was original! The new one did have some pinholes, so I whipped out my sub-par soldering skills to seal up the pinholes to hopefully prevent rust and such. All the sheet metal around the holes looked brand new, so I'm not worried about it How the outside of the holes look The outer cover arrived yesterday, while the inner and rear brake shoes arrived today Compared to the old shoes, I think it's an improvment Anyways, something else I wanted to ask the professionals about. On the engine, there's a side cover I need to pull off. SO basic story, I pulled all the bolts and began tuggin' on her, expecting only a little resistance from the crank seal, but the seal is holding on for dear life, I CANNOT pull that side cover for the life of me, and advice would be appreciated. The only thing holding the side cover on is that seal, and the crankshaft doesn't extend past the outer edge of the cover I'm trying to pull (the pullstart engages this side of the crank). Any tips would be helpful
Rolled rear fenders. Put on new wheels. Idk if i like them for sure or not yet. I plan to wrap my car a pinkish color some day and i think they will fit better then. Right now the white with the black is just way to much for me i think lol --- Post updated --- Pic with OEM wheels
hand reveal ot: almost ran over some dude going 60km/h on an electric scooter because he forgot what bike lanes are
indeed, a hand reveal cant see it, but I got myself with a wire brush --- Post updated --- imo with the white wheels, it needs a serious buff and polish, and less faded looking lights, it'd just be a cleaner look
Check for shaft wear, just about any visible wear or movement is too much Oh and that knocking noise is most likely wrist pin damage, the bronze bushings used between the rod and pin have most likely wallowed out from huge amount of pressure being generated in the head from pinging. Almost unheard of that happening without at least a loss of some rings or compression, ive got some Stromberg WW's and parts around and i'll fuck off this pinging once and for all this weekend, I realized strombys were the two barrel of choice for all those holden red engines so i'll have heaps tuning parts available along with good cores. So stay tuned !
Tonight, I will attempt to get my door buzzer and dome light working by looking for the right wire to reconnect. A previous owner cut it because of the annoying buzzing, but I'd like to have it back, mostly for the dome light. Progress later, maybe?
